Superintendent for a Day
STMA puts students first and fully embraces student voice. Our students have a lot to offer and their ideas and feedback are informative and valuable.
Each year a few elementary students act as Superintendent for a Day. The students learn about the district and help make important decisions while having fun along the way! They follow a “typical day” schedule with events such as classroom visits, facility/boiler inspections, meetings with district staff and principals, a cafeteria visit, ice arena visit, and more. They eat school lunch with the Superintendent at one of our school buildings. They end the day by calling the STMA School Board Chair to report on the happenings of the day. They are also invited to attend a designated school board meeting to report to the full school board on their observations and decisions.
