Office of the Superintendent

Welcome From The Superintendent

I am delighted to welcome you to St. Michael-Albertville Schools!

At STMA, in partnership with our supportive families, generous community, and extraordinary staff, we proudly serve over 6,971 students and have become a destination district for students and families throughout Minnesota.

Our mission is to provide a safe educational environment where students develop lifelong learning skills that nurture positive attitudes and self-worth. We focus our efforts on ensuring each student is a self-directed learner, effective communicator, and active, responsible, and respectful citizen. Our vision statement reflects our commitment to a balanced and high quality education:
STMA Schools will be the pride of our community, educating the whole student, with excellence in academics, arts, activities, and athletics through the empowerment of a world-class staff.

In our quest to realize our vision, we are guided by our core values. They are an integral part of who we are and what we are all about. They guide us in the work we do each day, including:

  • Students first: Committed to students first.
  • Excellence: Be our best in academics, arts, activities, and athletics.
  • Relationships: Foster strong relationships and collaborate with our students, staff, families, and community.
  • Integrity: Do what we say we are going to do.
  • Transparent: Provide accurate, timely, and accessible information and communication regarding key district decisions.
  • Kindness: Honor the uniqueness of individuals, treating others as we expect to be treated.
  • Purposeful: Be forward-thinking, fiscally responsible, resourceful, and make educated decisions.

Our longstanding tradition of excellence is closely tied to the emphasis we place on focusing our resources on students. We always put our students first and each and every decision is based on what is best for our students. This core value guides our work and is an essential ingredient to our success. Each of our eight schools is committed to innovation and continuous improvement. Our learning environments are carefully designed to meet the needs of today's changing learners by sparking creativity and igniting passion. Our extraordinary and caring staff work to ensure that every student who enters our doors feels valued, engaged, safe, and inspired.

We are preparing students for a future we can only imagine. We are committed to excellence and offer many opportunities for students to help them embrace the possibilities. This starts in the classroom, where our rigorous E-12 curriculum along with personalized learning focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the 21st century. High-quality instruction and effective programming ensure students are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

Learning and growth occur outside of the classroom as well. Students excel not only in academics but also in the arts, activities, and athletics. Our students and teams are consistently recognized at the regional, state, and national levels.

We welcome and encourage parents, caregivers, and community members to be involved, informed, and exercise an active voice in the education of our students and the operations of the school district. We believe in a collaborative approach and value transparency and stakeholder feedback. Please consider volunteering in our schools or serving on one of our 19 advisory teams. Please visit the Opportunities for Engagement portion of the district website for information including advisory teams or contact our individual buildings to learn about volunteer opportunities.

We look forward to serving you and partnering with you. Together, our collective wisdom creates a better tomorrow for our students, our community, and all humankind. #knightspride
