Attendance Boundary Changes During The School Year

If a student's attendance boundary changes during the school year due to a family move from one attendance area to another the following will apply:

  • The student may stay at his or her elementary or middle school. The parent is responsible for transportation for the duration of that school year.
  • The student may transfer to the elementary or middle school within his or her attendance boundary. The student will then be eligible for district transportation services if home residence or daycare is within eligible parameters for bus service.
  • The following school year the student must attend the school within his or her attendance boundary.
  • If a student’s attendance boundary changes from one attendance area to another and if the student will be entering his or her fourth or eighth-grade years, the student will be permitted to remain at the current school. The eligibility to remain at the current school does not apply to siblings. The parent is responsible for transportation for the school year.
  • The final decision will rest with the building principals and the superintendent.
