Dear STMA Parents,
The purpose of this email is to clarify information in the email sent to you last night.
To be clear, the decision that face coverings have to be worn in schools and on buses is a mandate by the Governor, not
STMA. All school districts in Minnesota must follow the mandate set forth in the Governor’s Executive Order.
If you have questions or concerns about this mandate please contact the Governor, MN Department of Education (MDE),
and MN Department of Health (MDH). Contact information is below.
Governor Walz or 651-201-3400
MDE Commissioner Mueller
MDH Commissioner Malcolm
Respectfully,

Good evening,
You may have heard that the Governor lifted the face covering mandate this evening. It goes into effect as soon as
the Minnesota Executive Council approves it, which should be tomorrow. However, this does not apply to schools and
school buses. We must continue to follow the state’s Safe Learning Plan, along with the existing face covering mandate,
through the end of the school year. That means face coverings must be worn inside all STMA schools and buses.
Please share this news with your child(ren) to avoid confusion during the last few days of the school year. We are grateful
for your continued support and partnership.
Have a great evening.
Respectfully,
Dr. Ann-Marie Foucault
STMA Superintendent
