As you most likely heard, Governor Walz issued Executive Order 20-41 this afternoon. This executive order extends distance learning for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. For STMA, this means the last day for STMA students is June 4. As part of the order, the Governor has ordered professional development days on May 1 and 4 so staff can plan for the remainder of the year and improve distance learning plans. Therefore, May 1 and 4 will be staff only/non-school days. Childcare for children of critical workers and meal service will still operate on those days. The Minnesota State High School League has also cancelled all spring athletics and fine arts for the remainder of their seasons.
Information including refunds, previously scheduled events, and more will be shared with you soon. Please watch for communication from your child’s principal next week. In the interim, thank you for your patience and understanding as we diligently review the Governor’s order, collaborate with the Minnesota Department of Education, and put high quality plans in place to meet the needs of our students.
During these challenging times, I appreciate your support and partnership. Our team remains deeply committed to our tradition of excellence and are here to help navigate the uncertainties and intricacies associated with this new normal. We will get through this together.
