Good morning, it is Friday, September 20th. It is Day #2. 

Next week is homecoming at MSE! Please show your school spirit by participating in the different dress-up days. Remember that the school dress code still applies, which can be found on Page 3 of your student handbook.  Monday is PJ/Wacky Hair Day - Wear your pjs and get creative with your hairstyle!  Tuesday is Twin/Group Day - Grab one or more people and create an identical outfit!  Wednesday is Jersey Day - Wear a jersey or shirt that represents your favorite sports team! Seventh graders, please remember that this is also River Day, so dress comfortably.  Thursday is Decade Day - Wear a traditional outfit from your favorite decade!  Friday is Spirit Day - Come to school representing STMA in blue and gold!  Students who put a lot of thought, effort, and creativity into their dress-up day outfits will be eligible for a prize, and you may also be featured in the MSE yearbook!

The STMA High School Store will be open today and Monday. STMA high school students have been working hard putting this together. You will be able to purchase items during your lunch time.

Activities

Do you like singing? If so, consider joining King Arthur's Court or Knightengals! King Arthur's Court is open to any male students in grades 5-8 and is run by Mr. Pothen. Knightengals is open to any female students in grades 5-8 and is run by Ms. Trump. No auditions required for these groups! And you don't even have to be in choir! Rehearsals already start next Wednesday, September 25th. If you have any questions, see Mr. Pothen or Ms. Trump in the Choir Room.

STMA Debate is just getting started and it's not too late to join! Practice is Monday through Thursday 3:30-4:30 PM with debates occurring on Saturdays. If you'd like more information or are ready to join the team, please come to a practice or contact Coach Howden at ashleyh@mystma.org. Your parents can sign you up through FeePay which is in ParentVue.

The Writer’s Club is on Mondays from Oct 21 to Dec 16 from 3:15-4:15 pm. Talk to Mrs. Lyke for more information.Sign up for Writers Club on the STMA Community Education website.

Sports

The East boys soccer team won 5-3 against North Branch, Michael K. and Connor R. each had two goals, and Kamden S. added one as well.

Congratulations to the 7th grade volleyball B team on their sweep over Buffalo last night.  The Lady Knights did an awesome job!

The 7A volleyball team brought home a win against the Buffalo Bison, 4 sets to 2. Helping the team bring home the victory was Ady H. with 20/23 serves followed by Camryn D. and Anna T.. Kendra B. and Abby H. played aggressive games at the net with 6 kills each followed by Becca O. with 4. Great job ladies, way to work hard!

The 8th Grade B volleyball girls had a slow start yesterday, but fought hard and had a great come-back to to split the games 3/3 with Buffalo last night.  Leyla C. was aggressive at the net and Kate N. steadied some hard serves with controlled passes. Briella M. found the corner pockets with some deep serves that scored some needed points! 

The 8th grade A team took on the Buffalo yesterday and came away with great wins taking all 6.  The scores were: 25- 10, 25 - 12, 25 - 7, 25 - 22, 25 - 18, 25 - 22. Great job serving by Ruby S. and Narissa L. helped in the victories.  Also, great defensive plays by Bella M. helped to keep rallies going.

Congrats to the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams for winning the STMA Inv. yesterday.

The Girls had a low total of 19 points to dominate the meet.  Top finishers were Elise L. (4th), Breanna I. (12th), Leah H. (13th) Samantha D. (14th) and Fae B. (16th).

The boys also had a great team win, led by overall medalist Carter A.  Also finishing well for the Knights were Gavin E., (7th), Max S. (8th), Anthony A. (13th) and Dawsen W. (15th)

The STMA Middle School Girls Tennis team traveled up to Monticello for a triangular against the Monticello Magic and Rogers Royals.  Partners Annika S. and Theresa B. played an aggressive net game earning a 6-4 win. Kayla B. owned the net with her intense volleying. The Knights host the Buffalo Bison at Middle School East on Tuesday.
