Message to Families Regarding February 9 Incident in Buffalo, MN

Dear STMA Students, Families, and Community Members:

A terrible tragedy occurred this morning involving an active shooter at a healthcare facility in Buffalo. As a district and neighboring community, our hearts go out to the community in Buffalo.

We want to reassure you that the safety of students and staff and the security of buildings is our highest priority. We work closely with Wright County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) and local emergency responders and have built strong partnerships with these entities.

To that end, we have been in constant contact with WCSO throughout the day and were reassured there was no risk to STMA students, staff, or our campus. Our buildings are safe and we will continue to work collaboratively with WCSO as the situation evolves.

We care deeply about students, staff, and the families who make up our community. We are all part of the STMA family and in this disheartening time, we offer our support. Below are links to resources that you may find helpful in talking to your child and supporting the well-being of your child or yourself. Counseling services are also available through our community partners Northwest Family Counseling, Healing Moments, and Vanda Counseling.

Our hearts are heavy and we grieve with the Buffalo community. Together, we will get through this as a community rooted in our strong tradition of excellence. Be safe and well.

Respectfully,

Dr. Ann-Marie Foucault

STMA Superintendent
