  • In Minnesota, students and their families/guardians have a wide range of meaningful school options beyond the traditional, neighborhood school.

Open Enrollment

  • The St. Michael-Albertville School District welcomes non-resident students through Minnesota’s Enrollment Options Program. Over 1000 open-enrolled students from 17 different Minnesota school districts call STMA Schools home. We welcome them to our tradition of excellence and look forward to carrying out our mission of creating self-directed learners, purposeful thinkers, effective communicators, and responsible citizens. If you live outside the St. Michael-Albertville Public Schools district boundaries, please apply for open enrollment.

    MN State Statute 124D.03 Enrollment Options Program requires a pupil's parent or guardian to submit an application to the nonresident district. The pupil's application must identify a reason for enrolling in the nonresident district.

    Some open enrollment boundary areas are eligible for transportation for a FEE. For more information contact transportation@mystma.org

  • For some families, homeschooling is the appropriate educational choice for their child. STMA Schools has an obligation to assure compliance with the compulsory attendance requirements under the law (MN Statute 120A.22). If you determine homeschooling is the best option for your child(ren), please read below for important information and deadlines.

    • Homeschool Full Report– Submit before October 1 of the FIRST YEAR of homeschooling to the resident district, or within 15 days of withdrawing a child from public school in order to homeschool (MN Statute 120A.24)
    • Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling– Submit before October 1 of EACH YEAR after the instructor has provided the same resident district with a Homeschool Full Report the prior year(s).
    • Aids to Nonpublic Pupils FORMS – A small amount of financial reimbursement is available through the State of Minnesota's Aids to Nonpublic Students program. The deadline for intent to participate is October 1.
