2019 Middle School East Softball Information

    Coaches: 7th Grade - TBD, 8th Grade - Mr. Mueller (patm@stma.k12.mn.us).

    Student Information Meeting:  Wednesday, March 6th in the cafeteria from 3:15 until 3:45.  Parents do not need to attend this meeting.

    First Day of Practice:  Monday, April 1st. Practices take place on Monday through Thursday each week and end at 5 pm. All practices and home games are at East.

    Sports Physical:  You need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Holler's office in order to register.  Sports physicals are valid for three years. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.

    Registration:  You may register online by going to your Parent View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. The activity fee is $130.  If a studnet receives reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower. The amount you are asked to pay in FeePay will adjust automatically based on this status. If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Activities Director David Holler at 763-497-2655 (dial 5 for activities). Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.

    Important Policies to remember:  

    • You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the team.  Mr. Holler will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the mid tri.
    • You need to be in class five full periods for the day in order to practice or play in a game that night.  If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but need to make sure to bring a note to the attendance secretary Ms. Anderson.
    • The coaches will expect you to be at practice every day.  Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00.  Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
    • You will be bussed to all road games and back to East.  You may ride home with your parents after games rather than the bus if you are signed out by a parent with your coach. If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Holler one day in advance.

    Clothes:  Make sure to have warm clothes in your locker at all times.  There will be some very cold days in the spring, so dress appropriately.

    7th Grade Softball had their best games of the season last night against Cambridge. Team A started us out with a win of 15-2 and a total of 5 homeruns. Kylie G., Taylor T., and Isabelle B. all rounded the bases for epic home runs. The whole team had strong bats and aggressive base running. Special shout out to Maddy O. for being such a positive, encouraging teammate. Team B held strong with a tie game of 10-10. Delia W. crushed a home run to start the game strong and Ashley S. rocked a triple to left field with an epic attempt to steal home. Way to go 7th grade softball!!

    8th grade softball travelled to Cambridge Monday. Anika R. pitched a great game. Jadyn P. hit a home run. Emily M. and Jadyn drove in runs to come back and tie the game 3-3. The B team lost a close one 5-8. Jordyn C. pitched her 1st game. Erin H. made a diving catch in left field that belongs on ESPN.

    7th grade softball won both their games against Buffalo at home last night. Team A shut it down 8-0 with some awesome pitching by Heidi Frank and a fantastic over the shoulder catch by Sidney P.. All girls had strong bats. Team B won their game 8-4 and Alary W. hit a beautiful double and Lauryn M. pitched a beautiful game. Great job ladies!

    The 8th grade softball teams defeated Buffalo Tuesday.  The A team won 5 -1 on solid pitching by Emily O., backed up by tough defense, especially by Anika R.,  Jordyn C., and Emily A..  One offensive highlight was a beautiful bunt by Chloe J.  The B Team came from behind to win 9 – 8.  Emma B. scored the go ahead run on a bases loaded, two out double by Jadyn P.

    7th Grade Softball had wins all across the board versus Monticello last night. The A team started off with an 11-0 win. Isabelle B. and Taylor T. both hit beautiful triples to center. Ella M. caught a foul ball that helped shut down the 3rd inning. Claire G. fielded a clean ball and fired to one while Maddy O. caught a fly ball to center to help wrap up the game. Isabelle B. was able to throw out the runner stealing second TWICE with amazing catch and tags by Sidney P. Team B stayed strong and won 10-1. Alary W. rocked a ball to left for a home run. Lauryn M. pitched an awesome game while also fielding a ball in front of the mound and fired to one closing out an inning. Huge thank you to Ella L. for being an outstanding manager! Great job ladies!

    The 8th grade softball teams swept Monticello Monday.  The A Team won 9-0 behind a dominating pitching performance by Anika R., who had nine strikeouts.  Chloe J. added the offensive power with an RBI producing double and triple.  The B Team won 15-6.  Highlights included solid pitching by Jordyn C. and a home run by Emily M.

    7th Grade softball won both games last night against Becker. Team A won 9-2 with an amazing triple by Taylor T. followed by another from Ella M.. Kylie G. cranked out a homerun into right field and Maddy O. hit a triple towards center. Claire G. did a fabulous job fielding multiple grounders at second. Team B won their game 10-9. Ashley S. started us off strong with a home run. To shut it down in the last inning, Delia W. had a strong fly ball catch and Annika C. caught a fly ball at second. Lily F. hit a ball out towards left center for a home run to give us the lead. Great job, ladies!!

    The 8th grade softball teams split with Becker Tuesday, the A team winning 4-1 and the B team losing 7-9.  Highlights included an unassisted double play by Anika R., Chloe J. throwing out a runner trying to steal 2nd in one game and making a spectacular catch of a deep ball hit to Center Field in the other game, and Erin H. knocking in two RBI on a single to start a three run rally.

    The 8th grade softball teams beat Monticello Thursday.  Erin H. pitched her first game in an 11-3 B game win. Key hits in the game included singles by Emma B. and Lexi H. and a double by Erin.  Erin then drove in 3 runs with a double in the first inning of the A game giving the Knights an early lead.  Then Anika R. took over, pitching a 10 strikeout, no-hitter in a 4-0 win.

    7th Grade softball did a wonderful job against Monticello last night. Team B started us off with a win 15-4. Alary W. hit a beautiful double that helped us gain a lead. Lauryn M. and Ashley S. did a fabulous job pitching. Mikayla A. rocked a single out that allowed a runner to advance home. Team A had their most competitive game of the season that ended with a score of 9-11. Sidney P. started the team out with a triple to center field. Makenna P. had a flawless double play by catching a fly ball and stepping on third base. Ella M. had the most beautiful sacrificial bunt that helped advance all runners. Kiera K. raced to catch a fall ball that helped us tie up the game for awhile there. Way to go ladies, it was a great night of softball.

    7th Grade Softball went up against Big Lake last night. Team A won their game 4-1 and Sidney P. started the game off with a home run to left field.  Then there was a beautiful pop fly caught and thrown to second for a double play done by Maddy O. Isabelle B. threw down to second for a tagged out by "The Pink Panther", Kylie G.. Ella M. hit a home run that brought in 2 runners. Taylor T. had the most amazing bunt that helped score a run. Team B lost 0-4 but not for lack of effort. Lauryn M. had 6 strikeouts, Annika C. with a great play at second, Alyssa K. had a great field in left and Ashley S. had the most aggressive base running of the game. Great job, Knights!

    The 8th Grade Softball Teams split a pair of games with Big Lake Monday.  The A team was led by Emily Olin’s solid pitching performance and several extra base hits.  Emily A. hit a double, Anika R. had a two RBI double, and Chloe J. hit a two RBI home run.  The B Team nearly came from behind but lost 6-7.  Emma B. and Marlee W. both had two singles, Erin H. had a double and a triple, and Anika R. added two more RBI on a triple.

    The 8th Grade softball teams finished their season Tuesday.  Anika R. pitched a perfect game and Emily M. hit a grand slam home run in a 15-0 win.  The A team finished the season undefeated.  The B team won 10-8.  The highlight of that game was Emma B. picking off a runner at 3rd base.

    7th Grade Softball played their final game last night against Princeton. Team A won their game 12-1. Sidney P. started the game off with a home run. Taylor T. hit a triple that helped score a run while Ella M. stole second base. Heidi F. not only crushed it with her pitching, but also cranked a triple out towards center. Isabelle B. had a nice foul ball catch while Mckenna helped wrap up the game with a home run. Team B won 8-7 thanks to Ashley S.'s pitching and great defense. Annika C. had a great double that helped bring in a runner. Lindsey H. had great aggressive base running while Alary W. kept the ball in front of her with some awesome catching instincts. Of course a huge shout out to Ella L. for being the best manager ever. Thank you for a FABULOUS season ladies! Great job! :)
