Middle School East Baseball Information
Student Information Meeting: Wednesday, March 6th in the cafeteria from 3:15 until 3:45. Parents do not need to attend this meeting.
First Day of Practice: Monday, April 1st. Practices take place on Monday through Thursday each week. Parents should pick up their children each night at MSE at 5 pm.
Sports Physical: You need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Holler's office in order to register. Sports physicals are valid for three years. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.
Registration: You may register online by going to your Parent View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. The activity fee is $130. If a studnet receives reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower. The amount you are asked to pay in FeePay will adjust automatically based on this status. If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Activities Director David Holler at 763-497-2655 (dial 5 for activities). Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.
Important Policies to remember:
- You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the team. Mr. Holler will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the mid tri.
- You need to be in class five full periods for the day in order to practice or play in a game that night. If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but need to make sure to bring a note to the attendance secretary Ms. Anderson.
- The coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00. Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
- You will be bussed to all road games and back to East. You may ride home with your parents after games rather than the bus if you are signed out by a parent with your coach. If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Holler one day in advance.
Clothes: Make sure to have warm clothes in your locker at all times. There will be some very cold days in the spring, so dress appropriately.
The 7th grade B baseball team won a hard-fought battle against Monticello. This back and forth game was capped off by a dramatic walk-off hit from Andrew A., who went 4-4 on the night. Everyone contributed offensively and defensively to chip in for the win. The team showed great resilience in this back-and-forth battle. They have now won 2 games in a row and are looking to extend their win streak against Buffalo on Thursday.
The 7th grade A baseball team dug themselves a hole in the first inning by giving up 5 runs. They fought back as the game progressed and brought the score to 7-6 with a 3-RBI bases clearing line drive off the bat of Jackson T.. Q D. and Ryan W. hit the ball hard all night, and Tevin Vognsen contributed offensively with great at bats and awesome base running. Reece E. did a great job in the outfield and was stellar behind the plate defensively. However, the Knights could not complete their comeback and fell to Monticello by a final score of 11-7.
8th grade baseball split with Monticello last night. The B team won 12-6 and had big pitching performances from Spencer H. and Vincent C. Elijah M. had 2 bases clearing triples! Josef S. scored 3 runs. The A team struggled to hit the ball but had a team effort on the mound using 5 pitchers and recording 9 strikeouts.

The East Beasties 7th grade A baseball team came ready to play against West as they stormed out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. They kept the runs coming as they had another 5-run inning in the 3rd and more runs throughout the rest of the game. Key hits came throughout the order as Zach Z. hit a 2-run HR, Tevin V. picked up RBIs on a double and a triple, Reece E. hit a double, Bryce H. had a 2-RBI triple and Thomas O. hit 2 home runs. East also had solid defense and pitching as Thomas O. struck out 8 of the 9 batters he faced and Q D. was solid behind the plate. Josh B. made great plays in the field as well. The game ended with East winning by a score of 17-7.
The East B team put out an amazing performance as well. Solid pitching from Colin G. and Andrew A. held West to only 3 runs in the whole game. Great defensive plays were made all around the field and key at-bats came from Andrew A. and Nick O. East finished the game with a 9-3 win and should be proud of how they played.
8th grade B team baseball got a great comeback win against West 13-10. The bats were alive as Peyton P. scored 3 runs, Sam H. hit a single, Carter K. hit a triple, Tanner G. reached base 3 times and Lake M. hit a walkoff 3 run homer! The A team lost a close one 7-6 against West. Reese J. hit a key 2 run double, Ashtyn G. pitched great tallying 5 strikeouts, Evan D. made a catch with one eye closed, and Andrew . made a catch with his bare hand!
The 7th grade B baseball team battled hard in a well-played game by both sides yesterday in Monticello. Both teams played exceptional defense with East turning a 1-2-3 double play with bases loaded to stop Monticello from scoring. Colin G., Jackson H. and Jack R. were in on that play. Later in the game Josh B. threw a laser to 3rd base and Wes E. applied the tag to stop a runner who was trying to take extra bases. Josh B. also pitched well along with Colin G.. In the end however Monticello proved to be too much and won the game 7-4. Jackson H. hit the ball hard all game and gathered 2 RBIs.

8th grade baseball finished the season with 2 wins against Cambridge last night. The B team won 4-2 and finished the season 6-3. The A team won 7-4 and finished the season 6-3. Thanks for the fun season fellas.
The 7th grade A baseball team avenged an early season loss to Monticello with a victory yesterday. Ryan W. led the team on the mound and at the plate. The Knights secured their win with a 5 run 6th inning and solid defense throughout the game. Both teams will end their season with a game against Cambridge on Thursday…weather permitting.
8th grade baseball A team split the season series with Monticello on a blustery night winning 7-3. Sam H. had 2 hits and an RBI and pitched a great game, Jarrett F. had 2 hits, and Matthew M. had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Ashtyn G. continues to be a team player by doing everything he is asked on the ballfield and Evan D. continues to lead by example on the diamond.
The 8th grade B team had a tough loss against Monticello on an unseasonably chilly May night. Rainer M. hustled on every play as he is known to do and continues to be a great teammate. Benny P. reached base twice.
