Organizational Meeting for interested players: After school on Wednesday, December 12th in the cafeteria.  Parents do not need to attend this meeting.  The meeting will last until approx. 3:30.

First Day of Practice:  Wednesday, January 2nd.  Practices are Monday through Thursday from after school until 5:00.  Please have your ride pick you up at East by 5:15 each night.

Coaches:  8th grade:  Ms. Schlangen & Ms. Stairs;   7th grade:  Mr. Hanson and Ms. Cox.

Sports Physical:  you need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Holler’s office.  Sports physicals are valid for three years.  You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.

Registration:  You may register online by going to your parents’ School View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. If you have not been out for a sport yet this year, you will need to fill out the eligibility form online. If you have already filled this out for a fall sport, your answers are probably still there, but you will have to electronically sign the form again. You will then be allowed to pay the $130 activity fee.  If you are on reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower.  The system should tell you how much you have to pay according to your lunch account.  If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Dave Holler at 763-497-2655 ext. 93003.  Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.

Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School East, you are an ambassador of our school.  As an ambassador of our school, we expect your behavior to be that of a positive model for others to see and follow.

    Important Policies to remember:

    1. You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the basketball team. Holler will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at mid tri.
    2. You need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or play in a game that night. If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but you need to make sure to bring a note to Ms. Anderson, our attendance person, from the doctor explaining that the appointment took longer than usual.
    3. Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00.  Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.
    4. We will bus you to all road games and back to East, but you may ride home with your parents after a game rather than ride the bus back to East. You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent.  If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Holler of this one day in advance.

Website:  Your basketball team has its own website.  Go to the www.stma.k12.mn.us, click on “our schools”, click on “Middle School East”, then click on “activities”, and then click on “MSE athletics page”.   Your schedule, important information, and your coach’s e-mail address can be found on your team web page.   Eventually your team picture and write-ups from your games will be there as well.
