STMA Middle School Wrestling Information
Organizational Meeting for interested wrestlers: right after school on Wednesday, November 6th in the lecture hall/boardroom at MSW. Parents do not need to attend this meeting. The meeting will last until approx. 3:30.
Coaches: Mr. Kelley email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Mr. Jensen email: email@example.com
First Day of Practice: Tuesday, November 19th. Practices are Monday through Thursday from after school until 5:00 in the MSW wrestling room. Please have your ride pick you up at West by 5:15 each night. The season ends after the conference tournament currently scheduled for Monday, January 27th.
Sports Physical: you need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Antony’s office. Sports physicals are valid for three years. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.
Registration: Registration is open. You may register online by going to your parents’ School View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. If you have not been out for a sport yet this year, you will need to fill out the eligibility form online. If you have already filled this out for a fall sport, your answers are probably still there, but you will have to electronically sign the form again. You will then be allowed to pay the $150 activity fee. If you are on a reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower. The system should tell you how much you have to pay according to your lunch account. If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Ryan Antony at 763-497-4524 ext. 4124. Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.
Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School West, you are an ambassador of our school. As an ambassador of our school, we expect your behavior to be a positive model for others to see and follow. You will miss matches or practices if you receive out-of-school or in-school suspension.
Important Policies to remember:
- You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the wrestling team. Mr. Antony will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the end of the trimester and mid-tri.
- You need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or wrestle in a match that night. If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but you need to make sure to bring a note to Mrs. Dodge, our attendance person, from the doctor explaining that the appointment took longer than usual.
- Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00. Missed practices may result in reduced matches.
- We will bus you to all road matches and back to West, but you may ride home with your parents after a match if you choose rather than ride the bus back to West. You need to have your parent sign you out with your coach if you ride home with a parent. If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Antony of this one day in advance.
