    Competition Schedule: STMA Middle School Swim Schedule 22-23

    Coaches Letter to Families: 

    Hi, my name is Alanna Lau. I am the STMA Middle School Girls Swimming and Diving Coach for the 2022 season. I wanted to reach out and give you a quick heads up regarding our upcoming season. Practice begins on September 6th. Practice runs from 3:15pm-4:30pm immediately following the school day. Please bring a practice suit, competition goggles, a swim cap, and a water bottle to practice the first day. Below you will find the links for our team suit and cap orders. Please have these ordered by September 9th so that we will have them for our first meet. Swim will take place Monday-Thursday each week. We always have Fridays off. Our meet schedule is as follows:

    10/24 @ Home
    All meets have a start time of 4:30pm. We will bus directly from the school for our away meets, and we expect the girls to arrive to home meets immediately following school for set up. This is always subject to change, but this is the schedule we have been given. Any changes will be forwarded to you. 
     
    Swim Suits:
    Please order a team suit from this site. This is the link that the high school team is using, so there are other options for purchase, but the suit is the only required item for us. 
     
    Team Swim Caps:
    Please order swim caps from this site. We ask that each swimmer has at least 2. These will be shipped directly to me once the order closes on the 9th. Again, this link is saved from last year’s suit choice. So please order your suit from the other site. There are goggle options as well as a bag option. All of this is optional other than the swim caps.

    First Day of Practice:  The first practice will be Tuesday, September 6th.   Practices will be after school.  Swimmers will be bussed each night from West to East for practice, but there will not be a bus back to West after practice.  Practice will go until 4:30pm.  Please pick up your student by 4:45pm.    

    Sports Physical:  players need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Antony’s office.  Sports physicals are valid for three years.  You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register. Sports Physicals can be dropped off or mailed to the Middle School West main office with attention to Ryan Antony.

    Registration: All Middle School sports registration is done online using ParentVue. The activity fee  is $172.50.

    STMA has an online registration system, SmartSchoolK12 also known as Affinety.  If you do not have any account you will need to create a new account and add a funding source before registering.  Follow the instructions in the links below.  Please follow both sets of instructions to help avoid confusion.

    Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School West, our athletes are ambassadors of our school.  As an ambassador of our school, we expect our athletes’ behavior to be exceptional.  We want our athletes to be positive role models for others to see and follow.  

    Important Policies to remember:  

    • Students need to be passing all of their classes to be on the team.  Mr. Antony will check to see if athletes  are passing all of their classes at mid-tri.
    • Students need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or compete that night.  Students with a doctor’s appointment may be excused from this requirement if they have documentation from the doctor referencing the appointment.  Make sure to bring this note from the doctor to our attendance person
    • Your coaches will expect the students to be at practice every day.  Practices are after school, Monday through Thursday until 5:00.  Missed practices may result in reduced playing time.  
    • We will bus you to all road competitions and back to East.  You may ride home with your parents after road competitions rather than on the bus if you wish.  You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with your parent.  If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Antony of this one day in advance.
