Letter from Coach Lau,We currently have 5 meets scheduled for the season. Our meets are every Monday starting on September 9th.The last meet of the season will be on October 7th. We will have a pizza party to end the season. There will be more information on that as it approaches. I will be sending out an official calendar in a few weeks. This year we have chosen to order our team suits through a new company. We will be ordering our suits from the same company as the High School Team. Please have your suits ordered by August 25th to ensure delivery by September 9th. The link to our team store is posted below. Please come to practice on August 26th with a practice suit, a swim cap, goggles, and a water bottle. Our competition swim caps will be available for purchase for $5.00. Feel free to practice in any swim cap, but be sure to buy a competition cap before September 9th. If you are unsure what type of goggles to bring, there are a few good options on the team store website listed above. Otherwise any competition goggles will be just fine. The plan for the first week of practice is to work on fundamentals, get you familiar with each other, and give an overview of everything you need to know or need to work on before our first meet. I understand that since this is before school starts, it may be hard to get to practice. We ask that you do your best to be there, but if you are unable to make it, please let me know. If you are planning on focusing on the diving portion of the team, plan to be at the first practice as well. We just hired a new High School Dive Coach and are working on how to sync up schedules so that our divers get time with him as well.If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I am looking forward to meeting you all, and can’t wait for a fun season.Thank you,Alanna LauMiddle School Girls Swim/Dive Coach

Sports Physical: swimmers need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Antony’s office. Sports physicals are valid for three years. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register. You can send sports physicals to Middle School West with attention to Ryan Antony.
Registration: Registration is now open! You may register online through parents’ School View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. You will need to fill out the eligibility form online and electronically sign it (parent and athlete need to sign). You will then be asked to pay the $150 activity fee. If your family is on the reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower. The system should tell you how much you have to pay according to your lunch account. If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Ryan Antony at 763-497-4524 ext. 94124. Make sure your daughter has a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.
Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School West, our athletes are ambassadors of our school. As an ambassador of our school, we expect our athletes’ behavior to be exceptional. We want our athletes to be positive role models for others to see and follow.
Important Policies to remember:
- Students need to be passing all of their classes to be on the swim and dive team. Mr. Antony will check to see if swimmers are passing all of their classes at mid-tri.
- Students need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or swim in a meet that night. Students with a doctor’s appointment may be excused from this requirement if they have documentation from the doctor referencing the appointment. Make sure to bring this note, from the doctor to Mrs. Dodge, our attendance person.
- Your coaches will expect the players to be at practice every day. Missed practices may result in reduced meet time.
We will bus you to all road meets and back to East. You may ride home with your parents after road meets rather than the bus if you wish. You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent. If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Antony of this one day in advance.
