Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 - Day 1

Good morning, it is Tuesday, September 5th.  It is a day 1.  


Tonight is the first night of practice for boys and girls soccer and volleyball.  Swimmers, Cross Country runners, and girls’ tennis players should get their things and report directly to the shuttle bus after school tonight.  The shuttle bus will be parked along the curb by the bus parking lot.  You will change your clothes in a locker room at East and then report to your practice area.  Bring your things with you to your practice area.  Boys’ soccer players change your clothes here at West in the locker room and then report for the second shuttle bus to East.  It will pick you up along the curb by the bus parking lot. 

All boys and girls ages 9-14 (as of Sept 1st) are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge.  The competition will be held this Friday at 6:00pm at the STMA Middle School East soccer fields.  There is no cost to compete and winners will receive awards and can advance to the state level competition.This competition is designed for players to demonstrate the most basic of soccer skills – the penalty kick.  Each player will be take 15 shots at the goal from the penalty line that is 12 yards back.  The goal is divided into 5 scoring zones with ropes.  The upper corners are worth 20 points, the lower corners are worth 10 points, and the center is worth 5 points.  The participant in each age category with the highest point total will be declared the winner. 

All girls 4th – 8th grade interested trying out for travel basketball can find information at stmagbb.com or contact Coach Hamre.  Open gym is this Sunday from 3pm -5pm at the high school and tryouts are September 17th at Middle School West.
