Good morning, it is Tuesday, October 17th.  It is a day 1.  

Great job to our most recent Knights Honor winners.  They are: 5th graders, Nahvier W. and Sawyer A.  6th graders: Taylor J. and Hailey R., 7th graders, Jake S. and Emma D., and 8th graders, Hunter S. and Brett A.

7th & 8th grade girls’ basketball players.  Remember that practice begins next Monday, October 23rd.  Make sure you have your parents register you before then.

Boys in 5th and 6th grade interested in playing in the in-house basketball league should pick up a flyer in the office

Students interested in Ski Club should pick up a flyer in the office.

Students interested in performing at SoarArts 6th Annual Holiday Concert should pick up a flyer in the office. This year’s production is Shrek The Musical Jr.

Chess club for grades 5-8 is on Mondays in Mr. Barthel’s room starting on October 30th.  All ability levels are welcome.  Cost is $25.  Pick up an information flyer in the office or from Mr. Barthel.

There will be an organizational meeting at 6:00 on November 9th in the media center at Middle School West for all students and their parents interested in being in Destination Imagination this year.  Note this is a change in dates.

There will be a Halloween 5K and 1 mile fun run event at Sturges Park in Buffalo on October 28th.  You get to run in costume at this event.  Go to www.TinyURL.com/2017Run.

The boys’ soccer A team ended their season with a 3-1 win over Buffalo on October 16th.  The West B team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. Donovan R. scored on a beautiful goal and Sam D. scored as well.  

The girls’ swim and dive team repeated as Mississippi 8 Conferences champions last night in Cambridge.  Emma H. was 7th in the 100 freestyle, Ava Y. was 6th in the 100 freestyle and 6th in the 100 backstroke, Avery H. was 5th in the 200 freestyle and 7th in the 100 backstroke, Emma C. was 4th in the 300 freestyle and 4th in the 100 breaststroke, Ella C. was 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 6th in the 50 butterfly.  It was a great season for the girls’ swim and dive team.

Both girls’ soccer teams ended their season with a bang last night.  The A team fell behind 3-0 early, but came roaring back and won with a final score of 4-3.  Scoring were Emily Z., Gabby C., Sydney P., and Jadyn W.  The A team also had great saves from all five goalies- Marah V., Emily B., Casey F., Sydney P., and Raelin S..  The B team won 2-0.  Scoring in the second game were Julia D. and Kaitlin C. with two assists from Zaya E.    Both keepers in the B game also made some key saves.  Congratulations on the great season this year! Keep up the hard work and dedication!  

Cross Country team is at the Mississippi 8 Conference meet in Monticello tonight.  Dismissal from class is at 12:55 for 7th graders and 12:30 for 8th graders.  The 8th graders are dismissed earlier, so that they can eat their lunch.

West boys’ B soccer team is at Becker City Ball Complex tonight.  Bus leaves at 3:20.  B game only tonight.

7th grade volleyball team is home tonight against East at 3:45.  A and B matches will be played at the same time.

8th grade volleyball team is at East tonight.  A and B matches played at the same time.  Bus leaves at 3:20 from the shuttle bus area.

Lunch today:  Lines one and two have soft shell beef tacos or chicken fajitas.  Line three has hot turkey, ham and cheese on a bun, PBJ grape, and deli turkey sandwich.
