They excelled from selfless team play. Bella M. scored six points for the Knights. Congrats to the 8th grade Girls Basketball Gold B team on earning their first victory of the season over the Cambridge Bluejackets, winning 30 to 14. All eight players that suited up for this game, got in the scoring column. Sydney R. scored 6 and had a few nice assists. The A team lost a close one- 31-30 to the Bluejackets. Sophie J. played outstanding, scoring 15 points, including 9 of 12 from the free throw line.
The 7th grade girls’ basketball A team came away with a 50-17 victory over Cambridge. Balanced scoring was key in the victory with many different girls make contributions in the score column. Zaya E. scored 8 points. Piper C. had 7 points and was all over the floor grabbing rebounds and loose balls. The Knights were very aggressive on defense which resulted in fast break baskets. Gabby V. had another solid game and showed that good practice habits pay off. The STMA 7B also had strong game beating Cambridge 38-11. Samantha K. had a strong game inside that resulted in many positive plays. Both teams still have areas to improve. With continued hard work they should see improved free throw shooting and finishing shots at the basket.
