Posted on: Apr 25, 2018

The STMA School District is pleased to announce that Fieldstone Elementary, St. Michael Elementary, Big Woods Elementary and Albertville Primary have been invited to participate in the Minnesota Reading Corps (MRC) program for the 2018-2019 school year.  MRC is a statewide initiative to help every Minnesota child become a successful reader by the end of 3rd grade. Fieldstone will be looking for one full time literacy tutor, Big Woods will be looking for 2 part-time literacy tutors and St. Michael Elementary will be looking for one half-time literacy tutor to work one-on-one with 1st – 3rd grade students who are just below proficiency in reading. Beginning in August, recruited members will receive training and serve for 11 months. In exchange for their service, members receive a modest living allowance and an education award to use toward college tuition or to pay back federal student loans.  If you are interested in becoming a Reading Corps Member, please visit their website at www.minnesotareadingcorps.org. If you have questions regarding being a MRC Literacy Tutor in our schools, please contact Jeanette Aanerud at jeanettea@stma.k12.mn.us or call 763-497-6558.
