Posted on: Mar 6, 2018

Good morning, it is Tuesday, March 6th.  It is a day 2.

Superior job to our recent Knights Honor winners.  They are:  5th graders, Bre J. and Callan W., 6th graders, Alexander H. and Isabella N., 7th graders, Olivia O. and Gabe A., and 8th graders, Izzy C. and Emma B.

The MATHCOUNTS pizza party is tomorrow after school until 4:00 in Mr. Kucera's room.  The party is for anyone who participated in MATHCOUNTS this year.  Come celebrate and help send our team to the state competition.

There will be an organizational meeting right after school on March 15th in the lecture hall for all 7th & 8th grade boys interested in going out for baseball this spring.

Congratulations again to Coach Lefebvre and the varsity wrestling team on their state championship season.  Mr. Lefebvre is back in school today, so make sure to congratulate him when you see him.  Also, this is a good time to wish Coach Jerr Johnson good luck as his Knights hockey team prepares to play Duluth East in the state hockey tournament on Thursday.

The 8th grade boys’ basketball teams ended their seasons against East last Thursday.  The West A Teamers’ withstood some hot first half shooting demonstrated by their friends from East, and came back from a 4 point halftime deficit to end their season on a 6 game winning streak. The A Team finished with a nice 10 win, 4 loss season. The Blue B Team demonstrated the balanced attack they have shown all season, as they ended their season off with a victory over East, and a respectable 4 win, 8 loss season.  The Gold B team may not have finished the season with the record they were hoping for, but steady improvement of their offensive sets, teamwork, hustle, and much better defense was evident in each game as the season went on. Coach Edlund & Coach Fischer would like to thank all 34 players for their dedication and efforts during the season, and want to remind them that now, the off-season, is the time for them to improve on their games.  It was a fun season and we look forward to your continued success in all you do while you’re an STMA KNIGHT!

Students interested in riding a fan bus down to Thursday’s state hockey tournament need to turn their permission form in by 9:00 tomorrow morning.  They were e-mailed out to your parents yesterday, but if you still need a form, they are available in the office.  Unfortunately, there are only 50 tickets available for West students.  If more than 50 students turn permission forms in on time, a drawing will be held to select the 50 who will go down to the tournament.  Student council will be doing that drawing sometime tomorrow morning.  If your name is drawn tomorrow, then you will need to bring payment of $16 in first thing Thursday morning.

Lunch today:  Lines one and two have cheese quesadillas.  Line three has stuffed burgers, PBJ grape, and deli turkey on a hoagie bun.

Please say the Pledge of Allegiance as a KORT at this time.

Have a great day.
