Middle School West - Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 - Day 1

Posted on: Feb 22, 2018

Good morning, it is Thursday, February 22nd.  It is a day 1.  It is KORT theme day.

There will be an organizational meeting right after school on March 6th in the lecture hall for all 7th & 8th graders interested in going out for track this spring.

There will be an organizational meeting right after school on March 8th in the lecture hall for all 7th & 8th grade boys interested in going out for baseball this spring.

Students interested in attending Shrek The Musical Jr. should pick up a performance flyer in the office.

The Destination Imagination teams have been hard at work over the last few months. The regional competition will take place this Saturday at Maple Grove High School. Both of the teams from West are competing in the Fine Arts Challenge, and we’d love it if you’d come support us and see what DI is all about. The Prehistoric Purple Pandas take the stage at 9:00, and the Dragon Masters will go on at 2:20. Good luck to both teams!

7th & 8th graders interested in attending the state wrestling tournament on March 1st should pick up a permission form in the office.  Your permission form and $14 need to be turned into Mr. Sukalski by 3:15 on February 27th.  No forms will be accepted after that time.  Keep in mind that the end of the trimester is the day after the tournament, so if your grades are low, it may not be in your best interest to attend the tournament.

All three of the 8th grade Boys Basketball teams were back in action on Tuesday.   Both the Blue and Gold B teams lost close games, the Blue team to Princeton, the Gold team to East. The B teams continue to play hard and show improvement on both ends of the floor.  The Blue B team got scoring from nine different players, including Anthony W. and Mason U. who each knocked down outside jumpers.  The A team won a thriller, knocking off a previously undefeated Princeton Tiger team, 52-49.  Robert P. hit a big 3 right before halftime to get the Knights within six. The teams exchanged runs to start the second half, but at the six minute mark, the Knights found themselves down 12. The team put together their best six minutes of the season, using a combination of suffocating defense and some timely buckets from Riley P., Johnny T., and Joe S., to take the lead with 45 seconds remaining. The Knights forced another stop on defense, Riley P. hit 2 free throws, and they secured a long rebound to ice their 7th victory of the season! Johnny Tennyson was huge throughout the entire game, nailing five 3’s on his way to a season high 24 points.

7th & 8th grade boys’ basketball teams are at Buffalo Middle School tonight.  Bus leaves at 3:20.  Gold B teams play in Buffalo.

7th & 8th grade boys’ Blue B basketball teams are home tonight against Buffalo at 4:15.  7th grade game is first.

Lunch today:  Lines one and two have chicken tenders with potatoes and gravy.  Line three has spicy chicken patty on a bun, PBJ grape, and deli turkey on a hoagie bun.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is comfy sock/pajama day.

Have a great day.
