Posted on: Feb 16, 2018
Good morning, it is Friday, February 16th. It is a day 1.
It’s I Love to Read month here at West. We are celebrating reading by inviting all KORTs to participate in a treasure hunt. Students will be viewing book trailers and collecting new reads. Be sure to watch the trailers and record the titles. Hint: it would be helpful to have a QR code reader for future clues. Good luck! Congratulations to the following students that caught reading: Zoe P., Julian E., Michael C., and Ever R.. Please stop in the media center to claim your prize.
It's that time of year to make your summer softball plans. Whether you want a recreational or travel softball experience, we have the program for you. Go to www.stmagirlsfastpitch.com to check out our programs and register. Registration is open through this coming Monday.
There will be an organizational meeting right after school in the lecture hall next Wednesday for all 7th & 8th grade girls interested in playing school softball this spring.
The 7th grade boys’ basketball Gold team picked up a big win at Chisago lakes 38-26. The boys played put together their best game of the season. Jacob V. had the big game scoring 14 points and securing a bunch of rebounds. Ashton S. had 7 scoring on driving lay ups off screens from teammates. Great win for the Gold team! The A team absorbed their first loss of the season as they were beat by focused hard charging Chisago Lakes team. The Knights found themselves down by 22 points at one point in the game. The boys were able to fight back to make it game, but it was not enough. Fouling was a major problem for STMA as the team fouled the Wildcats 25 times in the game. This game should provide a valuable learning experience for the guys.
All three 8th grade Boys Basketball Teams were in action yesterday, with two teams traveling to Chisago Lakes, and one B team staying back home to take on our friends from East. Unfortunately, both B teams couldn’t bring home a win, but the A team was able to erase a three point halftime deficit, and earned an awesome road win over the Wildcats, by a score of 48-38. Although the Gold B team lost; improvement of their plays, and on the defensive end was evident, as they played a much more competitive game. Trey B. controlled the paint on his way to 11 points and 5 blocked shots, Evan S. put in 10, and Kaleb A. hustled his way to 3 rebounds and 2 points. The A teams’ trio of Joe S., Riley P., and Johnny T. combined for 38 points to lead the Knights scoring attack. Coach Fischer is asking students to get into the gym after school on Tuesday and fill up the bleachers to cheer on the Knights as they seek to avenge an early season losses against two good Princeton Tiger teams.
Lunch today: Lines one and two have stuffed cheese or stuffed pepperoni pizza. Line three has breaded chicken patties, PBJ grape, and deli turkey on a hoagie bun.
