Big Woods Seeking MN Reading Corps Literacy Tutor

Posted on: Apr 17, 2018

Big Woods staff is pleased to announce that we will participate in the MN Reading Corps (MRC) program for the 2018-19 school year. MRC is a state-wide initiative to help MN children become successful readers by the end of 3rd grade.

Big Woods needs one additional part-time tutor (5 hours/day) to work one-on-one with 1st – 3rd grade students who are just below proficiency in reading. In August, MRC recruits will receive training and serve for 11 months. In exchange for their service, members receive a modest living allowance and an education award to use for college tuition, to gift to a child/grandchild, or to pay back federal student loans.

If you are interested in becoming a Reading Corps member, please visit their website at www.minnesotareadingcorps.org. If you have questions, please contact Amy Zeidler @ amyz@stma.k12.mn.usor Lee Brown at leeb@stma.k12.mn.us. You may also call us at 763-497-8025.
