Good morning.  It is Wednesday, January 17th,   it is a day 2. 

7th & 8th grade winter athletes, remember that mid-tri is this week.  Make sure you are passing all of your classes, so that you can remain eligible to play your sport.

East Writing Club is for grades 5-8.  Have you wanted to improve your writing skills and share stories with others?  Join Ms. Lyke to write and share stories, edit stories, and share ideas with others.  Writing Club begins on Thursday, January 25 from 3:15-4:15.  You can sign up through Community Ed.

If you would like to purchase a Team Chris shirt  for our Cancer Awareness Boys-Girls Double Header on January 26th. The deadline to order is tomorrow.  Shirts will be delivered to schools January 25th or can be picked up at the game on January 26th.  A portion of each shirt sold will be donated to the Braun family.  Thank you for supporting Chris and her family!  You can order from the STMAGBB girls basketball website: WWW.STMAGBB.COM

Students in grades 6 – 8 that are interested in Weightlifting should pick up a flyer in the office.

A gold ring with a pearl was found in the 6th grade pod, A ,mini USB fan was found.  Please claim these items in the office.

A sum of money was found  in the stairwell after lunch-please identify it and claim in the office.

The 8th grade boys’ basketball team split with Big Lake yesterday. The Blue B team fell 36-28 after a tough battle. The Knights fought back to take the lead early in the second half, only to lose their lead with three minutes left to play.  Jack B. led the team with 3 steals, Dylan B. got his first block of the season, and Wesley K. and Ashton M. scored 9 points each. The A team won 48-35 with every player contributing in the win. They adjusted well to the zone defense and swung the ball to create open looks. The team was led by Brooks O. with 8 points, and Sawyer F. and Hayden F. with 7 points each.

The 7th grade basketball team started off their season against Big Lake and came up on the short end of two losses.  The Knights A team struggled defensively and couldn’t find enough ways to score early on and trailed by 16 midway through the second half losing 47-35.  They rallied with increased defensive pressure but could get no closer than 7 pts.  Logan J. led with 11 pts, Zach H. had 7 pts,  Aiden H. added 6 pts, Mason W. chipped in 5 pts, Michael J. had 3 pts, and Colton D. and Owen H. each had 2 pts.  The Blue B team lost 27-21.  They played steady throughout, but in the end were not able to make enough plays down the stretch.  Cole T. led with 10 pts.  Ashtyn G. had 4 pts.  Kurtis L. had 3 pts.  Colin M. and Issac Y. each chipped in 2 pts.
