8th grade boys Basketball teams lost three games to Monticello last night. For the second straight game, the A team gave up over 50 points to a team. The boys dug themselves in an early deficit, but battled back to only be down 1 at halftime. The 2nd half was a different story, as the Magic blew out the Knights on their home floor, winning 51-32. Trey F. and Jackson T. each had 10 points in the losing effort. The Gold B team played their first game of the season yesterday, and the lack of game experience showed, as the overmatched Knights couldn’t keep pace with a talented Monticello B team. Hunter G. turned in a strong game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. Jaden P. handled the ball well from his point guard position and finished with 3 points of his own. The 8th grade Blue team traveled to Monti and lost 46 to 33. Travaris R. and TJ D. led the Knights in scoring 10 and 8 points each.
The 7th grade boys A team defeated Monticello 44-32 to run its record to 2-0. Another balanced scoring effort paced the team to the win. Andrew E. led the way with a solid game of 15 pts, including three 3's from behind the arc. Semaj H. and Kale H. contributed 8 pts each. Jack C. added 4 pts. Brandon L., Davis M., Garrett P., and Nick O. chipped in 2 pts each. Tyson R. rounded out the scoring with 1 pt. The Gold B team came up on the short end of a 21-18 loss to Monticello, but the team played well in their season opener. Tyler T. led the way with 7 pts. Luke T. added 4 pts, Josh C. contributed 3 pts, and Noah N. and Tyren C. each chipped in 2 pts. The STMA Blue B came back from a 2 point halftime deficit to beat Monticello 26 to 25 in a fast paced game. Ben F. led the Knights with 10 points and Michael M. chipped in 8 points. Carter C. added 4 points and Sam D. and Will S. added 2 points each.
Have a great day.
