Please remember that the school dress code policy still applies during dress-up days. Also, hats are only allowed if they are obviously part of the theme.

Good morning.  It is Wednesday, September 17th.  It is a day 3.  It is Decade and Tie Dye Day

Today is the two hundred and twenty-third (223rd) birthday of the United States Constitution.  Though she is old, the Constitution remains one of the most important documents in our Nation’s awesome and glorious history.  This piece of paper containing exactly 4,400 words is not only the source of all of the laws in our country, but it also provides the frame for our government and how it operates.  Without this document our Nation would not be as great as it is today.

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”.  This is the Preamble to our United States Constitution.  Today is Constitution Day!  Our U.S. Constitution was written in 1787 and ratified in 1789.  It is the document that sets up how our U.S. government operates.  Every country has a constitution, but the United States’ Constitution has been around longer than any other country’s constitution.  It has allowed our country to run pretty smoothly for over 220 years.

Today is the last day to purchase a pink U-Knight Against Cancer t-shirt.  Remember that this shirt will get you into a few select varsity games for free.  Shirts are $10, so if you come to a few of the contests they pay for themselves.  All proceeds are donated to cancer research.  Order forms can picked up and returned to the office by TODAY.  You may also be able to get an order form from your KORT teacher.  The first game you can go to is tomorrow when the girls tennis team takes on Rogers: “Smash Out Cancer”

Don’t forget that on Friday, there will be a huge tailgate party for all STMA students and parents before the homecoming game against Big Lake.  There will be fun and games, good food, and a lot of people.  Come and join the fun Friday from 4:30 until 6:30 out by the varsity football field entrance at West.

Boys in grades 5-8 who are interested in trying out for traveling basketball should stop in the office and pick up an information flyer.

5th and 6th grade boys interested in In-House Basketball should stop in the office and pick up a flyer.  Practices will begin October 20th.

Great Job by our 7th grade B volleyball team last night against West. Blue team won 2 out of 3 matches Gold team won all three matches. Nice work Ladies!  The 7th Grade A volleyball team got out to a great start this year beating West 6-0.  The A team came out strong with serving to put West back on their heels.  With great play by many players, East never looked back.  Great job A team.  Our next match is tomorrow when Big Lake comes to town.  The Blue team will be playing and the Gold team will be practicing.

The girls soccer team started the season off with a bang as both teams defeated Cambridge-Isanti yesterday.  The A team scored quickly and often as they jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never looked back.  Kayla A. led the team in scoring with three goals.  Kiki B. added 2 goals and Malia C. also had two goals to go with many amazing crossing passes.  Abby R. also contributed with a goal as the A team won 9-0.  The B team took also scored early as they held on for a 3-1 victory.  Isabel B. scored one goal and constantly put pressure on the defense and Katelyn A. played solid defense the entire game.  Way to go girls!

The Knights middle school girl’s tennis team had a great first match last night!  The team finished with 3 set wins and 5 losses for doubles.  Players at West, please change and get ready at West as East will be picked up first.  When we return from Monticello, all players will brought back to East to get picked up from your rides!

The Knights boys’ soccer team started the season with a pair of losses to a tough Monticello team.  The A team lost 5-4.  Alex A.l and Payton T. scored goals.  The B team was overmatched, but played hard and got a great effort in goal by Noah N.

7th & 8th grade swimmers and divers had a great meet last night!  They went up against 5 other teams in a relay meet at Monticello and took 3rd place out of the 6 teams.  Everyone swam really well and we saw some great sportsmanship.  8th graders Amelia B., Marley A. and Jordyn A. took a 2nd place finish in their 350 yard crescendo relay; Jordyn also teamed up with 7th graders Grace D., Lucy M. and Indigo R. to take a 2nd place finish in the 200 yard Butterfly relay.  8th graders Nicole K. and Abby W. looked great during the diving portion of the evening-Abby took 2nd place in the diving competition.  Our best race of the night was the 200 yard backstroke relay where Indigo, Grace, Marley and Lucy took a 1st place finish.  Amazing job, swimmers!!

Cross Country team is at Big Lake (Liberty Elementary) tonight.  Dismissal from class is at 2:35.

Girls’ tennis team is at Monticello Middle School tonight.  Dismissal from class is at 2:55.

7th grade volleyball team is home tonight against West at 3:45.  A and B matches will be played at the same time. 

8th grade volleyball team is at West.  A and B matches will be played at the same time.  Bus leaves at 3:20.  Dress here at East and get ready to ride the bus.  Your bus is a one-way bus, it will not come back to East.  Have your rides pick you up at West.s
