MURAL PROJECT 2010

Welcome to the collaborative mural project with STMA high school students from Knights Academy and eighth grade art students from Middle School West!

WEEK 9-THE FINAL MURAL:

STMA: THROUGH TIME

"In the process of this mural, strangers have become friends and ideas have become real."

"This project means that we all play a role in building this community by doing what we do to build what we have today and will have in the future."

"This project means a lot to me, not just because painting was fun, but it shows how STMA has changed. Also, it was fun having a class with 8th grade students."

"This process has made me see myself and others differently; even though we all come from different backgrounds, we can still work together as a team and accomplish things that we thought were the impossible."

"We created this painting to show the transformation of St. Michael and Albertville through time."

"This project has influenced us to forget some of our differences and work and have fun together!"

"During the process of this mural my part was to help plan and to help paint. All of us came up with individual ideas for this project and then put one big one together using ideas from everyone's sheets when we were planning."

"This mural has also brought out some things in me that I thought I didn't know or have."

"The high school people were awesome, they were very nice."

"This project means a lot because I can tell my kids I painted this."

"This project is probably the most important project I will do this year. Over the trimester, I learned a lot about our community that I might not have learned if I didn't take this class. This project showed me how to make a mural, different ways of painting, and how painters paint. It also showed me that art is fun and interesting. This class really brought out my creativity again, and it was a blast. I never would have thought that our mural would have turned out so awesome, and to my surprise it did!"

"I see myself in a way I never thought before. I know that I can do whatever I want if I set my mind to it."

"I hope other people will want to make a mural and add their art work to the school as well."

HANGING THE MURAL

The Middle School West Art Eight Responsive Hour class is working with seven high school students attending Knights Academy Alternative Learning Program to produce a mural for the MSW community. The students will be documenting the progression of the mural weekly on this page during Trimester Two.

The students have been hard at work for the past two weeks getting to know each other, brainstorming a main theme for the mural, and sketching out plans for the design of the mural. The students have narrowed down the theme to "The STMA Community." The student’s ideas have evolved from where the STMA community has been in the past to where it is now. We are looking forward to you visiting us online and checking in on our progress!
