2012-2013 Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Meals

Free and reduced priced meals are available for families who qualify. Families who may qualify are encouraged to complete an application at any time during the school year. A new application must be submitted each year. Applications are available on the STMA website, in each school office or from the District Office at 763-497-6500 ext. 5108 to have one mailed out to you.

Please note: Milk, when purchased by itself, is not included in the free or reduced program. The cost of milk only is $0.45.

Fluid Milk Substitution

We must provide lactose-free milk to students who are lactose intolerant who participate in the National School Lunch Program, (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Afterschool Care Program (ASCP), Special Milk Program and Minnesota Kindergarten Milk Program. Request for soy, water and juice (fruit or vegetable) will not be provided because they do not meet the nutritional guidelines established by the USDA. They may purchase these items for an additional ala carte price.

Important Meal Payment Information

FeePay: The FeePay system in SchoolView allows parents to pay securely online with a credit card or e-check without incurring a service fee for their student's meals. In addition, parents may set-up automatic e-mail meal balance alerts which will send an e-mail when your child(ren) meal account falls below a defined level. Deposits made to the FeePay may take 24 hours to be posted to your child's account.

Elementary School Sites: Payments may be sent with the student and given to their classroom teacher or dropped off at the school kitchen. The deposits must be received before 9:00 a.m. to be recorded that day. Money will not be collected during lunch periods.

Middle Schools and High School Sites: Payments may be placed in lunch deposit boxes which are locked and available in hallway(s) and cafeterias at all sites. The deposits must be received before 10:00 a.m. to be recorded that day. Money will not be collected during lunch periods.

Just a Reminder: When paying by check please note your child(ren)'s ID # and full name in the memo area.

Ala Carte and Seconds

Ala Carte purchases will be charged directly to the student's lunch account. It is your responsibility to discuss the dollar amount that you are allowing your child to use to purchase seconds or ala carte each day. In order to purchase seconds or ala carte there must be sufficient funds to cover the entire purchase in the student's lunch account.

Elementary School Sites:

Students may purchase ala carte items such as water, 100% juice and milk the first time through the lunch line. Fourth grade students may purchase a second entrée or additional side items but must make a second trip to the lunch line for these purchases.

Middle Schools and High School Sites:

Students may purchase a second entrée and side items plus a variety of ala carte items are available ranging in price.

Ala Carte offerings are in compliance with School District Wellness Policy #533.

Charging Lunches Not Allowed

The School District has a No Charging Policy #730. Keeping a positive balance in your student's lunch account is very important. To help you with this task we offer the following tips and information:

  • Tell your student to ask for their balance when going through the lunch line
  • Students and or parent/guardian in grades K-12 will be told verbally or in writing when their lunch balance is $5.00 or less
  • If a student prefers, their hand will be stamped when they have a low balance
  • You will also receive an automated phone message that goes out twice a week if an account is in the negative
  • Check the parent portal for the lunch account information
  • Call the kitchen manager/cashier at the school your student attends for their balance
