Welcome to a new school year! As we embark on the 2017-2018 school year, there is a lot of excitement in the air. In partnership with our supportive community, we will continue our tradition of excellence in academics, arts, and athletics. We will also continue to focus our efforts in ensuring each student is a self-directed learner, purposeful thinker, effective thinker, and a responsible citizen. While our mission remains strong, there are exciting changes in our future.
We are delighted to begin work on our new strategic plan as we strive to achieve our 2020 Vision. The strategic plan was developed collaboratively with input from students, staff, parents, and community members and will guide our work for the next three years. I encourage you to become acquainted with the new strategic plan by visiting the district web site.
We are also very grateful for the support of our community as we move forward with projects from the voter approved STMA Bond. Over the summer, many projects were completed including security entrances at Albertville Primary and the high school and repairs to the pool at Middle School East. LED lights and over 1500 computers were also added across the district. Projects that will continue throughout the 2017-2018 school year include classroom additions at Albertville Primary and the high school, an all-purpose facility, a second sheet of ice, and more. Visit the district web site for a complete list of projects and as well as updates on progress.
Staff are ready to inspire and guide the approximate 6300 students who will walk through our doors in a few short weeks. I look forward to serving you and hope that if you have not already become involved in our schools, you consider sharing your time and talent as a volunteer. There is no better way to understand STMA’s tradition of excellence than to experience it firsthand. I look forward to seeing you in our schools and out in the community.
