Open Enrollment Transportation Information

NOTE: The deadline for open enrollment transportation registration is August 15th. Registrations received after August 15th will be implemented the second week of school.

Routing information (bus stop times and locations) will be available online Thursday, August 17, 2017. An email will be sent to families when the information is available.

Due to a recent change in school district practice and in response to a request from the City of Albertville, the St. Michael-Albertville School District is delighted to offer a new transportation option beginning in the fall of 2017. This service will be available to open enrolled students near the City of Albertville.

The new fee-based service will start September 5, 2017. The annual cost for one student is $300 with an annual family cap of $500. You can pay the full amount or make two equal installments due May 8 and August 1. Please complete the Open Enrollment Transportation Registration Form and mail or drop off the form with your check to the STMA District Office located at 11343 50th St NE, Albertville MN 55301. Please make the check payable to ISD 885. Electronic payments will be an option in future years.

The district along with Don’s Bus has determined tentative bus stops based on the survey data collected. These bus stops are subject to change as actual ridership is determined. Please keep in mind that kindergarten students will ride either a Fieldstone or Big Woods route. When they arrive at either Big Woods or Fieldstone elementary, they will transfer to a bus that takes them to the Albertville Primary. All St. Michael Catholic School students will ride either a Fieldstone or Big Woods route. All high school students will ride the same routes as Middle School West students.

STMA bus stops are typically placed at intersections based on your home address, student density, walk distances to the stop, safety and the timing of the route. No student will walk more than .25 of a mile to a bus stop. Buses will not cross assigned boundaries to transport students. Students will board the bus at an assigned stop for their assigned school. Families need to establish one pick up and one drop off address for their child(ren). This is the same practice for both resident and open enrolled families. Final stop locations and times will be available on the ParentVUE parent portal on August 15, 2017. New families to the district will receive a letter with this information.
