During the 2012-2013 school year, Technology Education and Engineering (TEE) will be on year two of the curriculum cycle.

Technology Education and Engineering was formerly known as Industrial Technology.

During year one, the following occurred:

  • Current 5-12 TEE curriculum was mapped.
  • Best practices and current trends in TEE were reviewed and discussed.
  • An industrial technology benchmarking study will be conducted.
  • A district philosophy was drafted based on best practice/current trends and the STMA mission statement/strategic directions.
  • School stakeholders including parents, students, and staff were surveyed.
  • National TEE standards were reviewed and and placed at each grade level.
  • The purchase of new resources was discussed.
  • To see a timeline of review items for 2011-2012, please see attached.

Year two is the actual writing of the curriculum. In this phase, a curricular framework is established, essential questions are written, units are determined, unit essential questions are written and curriculum is mapped. Common assessments are also written and resources are piloted.

During year three, curriculum will be field tested and revisions will be made. Years four through six involve monitoring and making changes as needed.
