STMA is proud to be a ProStart school district. ProStart is the two-year career-building program for STMA high school students that focuses on culinary arts. ProStart prepares students to enter the job market directly after graduating or gives them an extra boost if they plan to attend college to focus on culinary arts.
ProStart students gain experience and recognition in several ways:
Students learn fundamental culinary and management skills in the classroom.
ProStart students put that learning to work on the job in qualified foodservice operations with industry professionals. This allows students to receive mentor support, character development, and real-world skills that give them a head start toward a career in the industry.
At the end of the program, ProStart graduates possess a solid foundation for their future careers. Students have the opportunity to earn the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement. This certificate recognizes students who have successfully completed the program and are eligible to earn special scholarships and college credit from colleges and universities across the country.
