The 8th grade Girls Basketball Teams traveled to Buffalo on November 13th to open up their season against the Bison.  The Lady Knights were able to earn a split on the road trip, with the A team losing 25 to 13, and the Blue B Team winning 36 to 6.  The A team was led by Mikayla V.’s 7 points and 5 rebounds.  The Blue B team had six different players get in the books, led by Bella M.’s 10 points, Karlee B. had 8 points and dished out 4 assists, and Casey F. and Hannah S. each put in 6 points.  Montee D. did a nice job patrolling the paint, and finished with 4 points.

The STMA girls’ 7th grade  A basketball team came away with a convincing win over Buffalo on November 13th.  All ten girls got in the score column.  Lauren H. provided inside scoring with 11 points while Zaya E. played solid defense on the perimeter gaining several steals in the game.  It was a good start for the girls with good effort and team play.  The B team also delivered a convincing victory.  The team played well on both ends of the floor.  Molly R. poured in 12 points followed by Niki B. with 10 and Edie N. with 8.

Organizational Meeting for interested wrestlers:  right after school on Monday, November 6th in the lecture hall.  Parents do not need to attend this meeting.  The meeting will last until approx. 3:30.

First Day of Practice:  Monday, November 20th.  Practices are Monday through Thursday from after school until 5:00.  Please have your ride pick you up at West by 5:15 each night.

Sports Physical:  you need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Sukalski’s office.  Sports physicals are valid for three years.  You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.

Registration:  You may register online by going to your parents’ School View account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. If you have not been out for a sport yet this year, you will need to fill out the eligibility form online. If you have already filled this out for a fall sport, your answers are probably still there, but you will have to electronically sign the form again.You will then be allowed to pay the $110 activity fee.  If you are on reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower.  The system should tell you how much you have to pay according to your lunch account.  If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Scott Sukalski at 763-497-2655 ext. 93003 or 94124.  Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register. 

Behavior – as an athlete for Middle School West, you are an ambassador of our school.  As an ambassador of our school, we expect your behavior to be a positive model for others to see and follow.  You will miss matches or practices if you receive out-of-school or in-school suspension.

Important Policies to remember: 

1.      You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the wrestling team.  Mr. Sukalski will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the end of the trimester.

2.      You need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or wrestle in a match that night.  If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but you need to make sure to bring a note to Mrs. Dodge, our attendance person, from the doctor explaining that the appointment took longer than usual.

3.      Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day.  Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00.  Missed practices may result in reduced matches. 

4.      We will bus you to all road matches and back to West, but you may ride with your parents home after a match if you choose rather than ride the bus back to West.  You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent.  If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Sukalski of this one day in advance.
