The Boys Gold Tennis Team beat Monticello at home on May 10th 9-8. Notching wins were John H., Evan F., Jackson T., Brett R., Scott M., Liam L., Easton F., Owen K., Graham A., Mason S., Robbie M., Bennett C., Jacob B., and Leo K.
Boys Gold team defeated Buffalo on May 7th with 8 team wins to Buffalo’s 3 team wins. It was a hot night with lots of family and friends watching- way to go! Winning at doubles were John H., Evan F., Jackson T., Brett R., Liam L., Jake B., Owen K., Nathan S., Robbie M., Bennett C., Mason S., and Graham A. Winning at singles were John H. and Graham A.
Gold boys tennis got in a ton of tennis on May 3rd at Foley. As a team we won 6 matches to Foley’s 7. Winning at doubles were Leo K. and Bennett C. Winning at singles were Jake B., Robert M., Brett R., John H., and Jonah L.Great job representing Knights Honor! The Blue Tennis Team played Cambridge-Isanti at home on May 3rd and came away with a 9-1 Win! Picking up wins were Dylan B., Issac F.,Parker B., Jackson M., Christian C., Joel W., Abram B., Noah J., Martin S., Trevor S., Micah H., Ethan Y., Jackson T.,Devlin S.,and Will G. Great Job Everyone.

STMA Boy’s Gold team defeated Princeton by a total of 6 matches to 4 on April 30th. What a great night and fun was had all around! Winning at doubles were Jonah L., Nathan S., Brett R., Jackson T., Owen K., Robbie M., Jake B., and Liam L. Winning at singles were Jonah L. and Nathan S.
What a fun night of tennis for the Blue squad on April 26th! The team ended up with 8 wins and 10 losses. Winning in doubles competition were: Parker B. and Alex B.; Abram B. and Noah J./ JD O. and Jackson M.; Devlin S. and Will G.; Dylan B. and Martin S./ Parker B. and Devlin S. Winning in singles were Martin S. and Ethan Y.
The Gold Tennis team defeated Delano Tuesday night at home. Picking up wins were Caleb R., John H., Brett R., Evan F., Jackson T., Jonah L., Liam L., Easton F., Graham A., Owen K., and Mason S. Nice work!
Blue boys tennis team traveled to Buffalo on April 23rd and played their first match. Good job getting that one under you belt! Isaac F., Ethan Y., and Jackson M. all picked up wins in singles play. Way to go, guys!

Organizational Meeting: right after school on Tuesday, March 6th in the lecture hall until approx. 3:30. Parents do not need to attend this meeting.
First Day of Practice: Monday, April 2nd. All practices and home meets are at West. Parents should pick you up each night at West.
Coaches: Mrs. Frauendienst, Ms. Ross, Ms. Stairs, and Mrs. Salo.
Sports Physical: you need to have a sports physical on file in Mr. Sukalski’s office. Sports physicals are valid for three years. You need to have a sports physical on file in order to register.
Registration: You may register online by going to your Schoolview account, clicking on fee pay, and then activities. If you have not been out for a sport yet this year, you will need to fill out the eligibility form online. If you have already filled this out for a fall or winter sport, your answers are probably still there, but you will have to electronically sign the form again.You will then be allowed to pay the $110 activity fee. If you are on reduced or free lunch plan, your fee is lower. The system should tell you how much you have to pay according to your lunch account. If you think there is an error with the fee, please contact Scott Sukalski at 763-497-2655 ext. 93003 or 94124. Make sure you have a valid physical on file with the activities office or the system will not allow you to register.
Important Policies to remember:
1. You need to be passing all of your classes to be on the track and field team. Mr. Sukalski will check to see if you are passing all of your classes at the mid tri.
2. You need to be in class five full periods of the day in order to practice or participate in a meet that night. If you have a doctor’s appointment, you may be excused from this requirement, but you need to make sure to bring a note to Mrs. Dodge, our attendance person, from the doctor explaining that the appointment took longer than usual.
3. Your coaches will expect you to be at practice every day. Practices are after school Monday through Thursday until 5:00. Missed practices may result in reduced participation in meets.
4. We will bus you to all road meets and back to West, but you may ride with your parents home after meets rather than ride the bus home if you choose. You need to have your parent sign out with your coach if you ride home with a parent. If you are planning to ride home with someone else’s parents, your parents need to notify Mr. Sukalski of this one day in advance.
Clothes: make sure to have warm clothes in your locker at all times. There will be some very cold days in the spring, dress smart.
Website: Your track and field team has its own website. Go to the www.stma.k12.mn.us, click on “activities”, click on “Middle School West”, and then click on “spring”. Your schedule, important information, and your coaches’ e-mail address can be found on your team web page. Eventually your team picture and write-ups from your meets will be there as well.

The 8th grade A baseball team took down East on May 15th 12 to 10! The Knights had solid pitching by Jarett B. and Mason S. Hayden O. had the hot bat going 3 for 3 with three doubles and four RBI’s. Ian S. was behind the plate and offensively stole two bases. Evan S. and Layton C. were perfect at the plate going a combined 4 for 4.
The 8th grade B baseball team lost a nail biter to the Eastsiders on May 10th 8 to 7. Great game by both teams with many top ten plays. On the defensive side West was led by Cather Cater H. who stopped many balls and called a great game, Kaleb A. was sensational at short and one inning recorded all three stops with some amazing plays, not to be outdone was DB Devon B. who was in the hot corner and was like a wall on defense. Addison W. and Tate L. were provided stellar pitching holding the Eastsiders to just two runs thru five innings On the offensive end there was many great hits as Jaylen A. stayed hot and was 2 for 3 from the plate and 3 RBI’s, Dylan B. hit a deep double that scored two runs, Justin M. was in charge of the theft department as he was 1 for 2 and had two stolen bases. Trevor C. did it all last night 1 for 2 with a stolen base and wrapped up the catching duties for the night and did a stellar job. Fun night of baseball!

The fire department was called out to the 7th grade B baseball game on May 15th at East due to multiple reports of an explosive offense that was on fire! Fresh off a soggy 8-7 victory over Monticello the team looked to continue their winning ways as they went for the sweep against East. Brady C. led the way going 3-for-3 with two RBI-doubles, Grant S. added a 3-run inside-the-park homerun, and Joey N. managed to walk four times and scored three runs. Everyone reached base last night, and nearly everyone had a hit. Jacob V. pitched a stellar inning facing three batters, striking out all three as the B-Squad rolled in their 15-8 victory over East. The A team played a high-scoring game against East on Tuesday. Reid B. pitched a fantastic inning and struck out two. Jackson H. turned an unassisted double play, but it was the offense for both teams that controlled the game. Connor D. hit a two run out of the park home run. Dillon G. put up a two run double, and Riley R. playing his first game on the A team put up 8 RBI with a triple and two doubles. The game resulted in a 18-13 win over East.
The 7th Grade baseball A Team stuck with it in the end of the game last night. The Knight’s jumped out to an early lead in the second inning with five runs, three of those runs coming on a triple from Braden I. The Knight’s hitting looked unstoppable. When it was 7-3 the rain picked up, both teams made repeated errors and struggled against each other’s offense. The middle innings started to look dismal when the Magic put up five runs but the Knight’s rallied to put four runs on the board, stealing home repeatedly. The game finished with a score of 11-11.
The7th grade baseball teams played pretty well against Cambridge on May 7th. The Knights scored three runs in the first with RBI’s from Dillon G. and Kaleb K. Then Dillon G. stole home. Ashton S. turned a double play at the bottom of the inning followed by a strikeout from Tyler G.. Conner D. drove in a run in with a double, followed by more RBIs from Reid B. and Chase R., Braden I. hit a two run double. Grant R. struck out two batters and Braden I.pitched a solid final inning to help the A Team win 13-1. The B team with a shutout victory of 10-0. Joey N. fielded back-to-back grounders to throw out two runners in the first inning. Jacob V. struck out two and Miles K. struck out all three allowing only one walk. Caden T. hit a solid double to center field to get the offense rolling and Evan W. hit a two-run double. The B Squad continues to improve on offense with more and more hits, leading to their 10 runs scored in Cambridge.
The Knights 7B baseball team was resilient in a hard fought come from behind victory on May 3rd. Buffalo got out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Knights responded with a never quit attitude. Evan W., Grant S., Mitchell R., Mason S. and Joey N. all scored in the sixth inning to give STMA a 7-4 lead going into the 7th inning. Mitchell R. handled the pressure of the 7th inning on the mound with ice in his veins as he picked up the save. Riley R. contributed with a double and Evan W. led the team with two hits. The Knights truly played as a team to pick up the win! The A Team continues to improve as a team. Reid B. pitched a solid first inning, allowing only one run with two strikeouts. Dillon G. fielded a grounder quickly to throw to Connor D. to throw a runner out at the plate. Jackson H. only allowed one run. The Knights were down 2-1 with two outs when Grant R. got the offense rolling with a triple. Ashton S. brought Grant home, Kaleb K. brought Ashton home with a double, and Jackson H. scored with a solid hit from Alex S. The Knights held on for a 6-4 hard fought win.
On May 1st, the 7th grade B baseball team gave up five runs to Cambridge in the first inning. However, the team answered by putting up five runs of their own. The Knights had some solid base hits from Mason S., Jake S. and Jacob V. advancing runners. Mitchell R., and Evan C. stole several bases. Miles K. kept the hope alive by pitching a stellar 11 pitch inning, striking out all three batters. However, the Knights lost the game 8-5.The A Team continues to improve with solid defense and fielding. Grant R. pitched a stellar first inning and Connor D. and Chase R. continued to pitch well. The Knights offense could not be stopped last night with hit after hit and continuous stolen bases. The A Team’s communication and hard work led the Knights to a 10-3 victory!
The 7th grade b-squad baseball team hosted Monticello on April 30th looking to shut down any tricks from the visiting Magic. Riley R. pitched two strong innings to set the tone, striking out four and only allowing one run. The boys got the bats going in the second and third innings racking up 8 runs, including a 3-run dinger by Mason S. and hard-hit RBIs by Grant S. and Jacob V. Solid defense, including a couple of well-executed double-plays led to a 12-8 victory, improving the B-Squad record to 2-and-0. The A team more than redeemed their loss last week with a 9-1 victory against Monticello Magic. Kaleb K. had a great start pitching, allowing only one walk in the first two innings. Braden I. and Conner L. solid pitching and the Knight’s rock-solid defense allowed the Knights to hold the lead, allowing only one run. The Knight’s offense was unstoppable last night with hit after hit, advancing runners, and eventually racking up runs and RBI’s. The most notable hits of the evening were Alex S.'s two-run triple and a perfectly executed bunt by Dillon G.
April 26th was perfect night for baseball. The Knight’s 7th grade baseball teams played two fantastic games against Becker. One play that kept the opposing team from scoring was an unassisted double play by Mitchell R. at third base. Joey N., Jake S., and Miles K. performed well on the mound as the B team’s pitchers, leading us to a 5-4 victory. Grant R. hit a three-run triple to put the A Team in the lead early in the game. Almost every player added a stolen base to their stats. Unfortunately, the team committed several unnecessary errors in the last inning and lost by one run. However, the team is determined to work on teamwork and communication, backing up their teammates on and off the field.

The 8th grade softball teams wrapped up their season on May 24th. The B Team started things off with an 8 – 5 victory over North Branch. They mixed walks and a few singles with some aggressive base running to reclaim the lead and then Claire H. shut them down in the final inning with three strikeouts. The A team won 3 – 0 in a storm shortened game. Emma V. threw out the only runner to get on base in an attempted steal of second. Brenna H. struck out the other batters she faced. Megan S. had another double and drove in two of the runs. The A Team finished the season undefeated.
The 8th grade softball teams split with Big Lake on May 22nd. The A Team won 5 – 0. Mia S. and Brenna H. turned two double plays. Megan S. hit a single, double, and home run, only a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Faith L. was also one hit short of hitting for the cycle with a single, double, and triple. The B team lost a tough one 13-1.
The 8th grade softball teams both beat Buffalo on May 17th. The A team won 7-3. Sophie J. drove in the first three runs on two doubles. The rest of the team contributed four more runs in the final inning. The B team won 7-2. Aggressive base running by all, a two hit game by Abby C., and solid pitching by Claire H. all contributed to the win.
The 8th grade softball teams swept Monticello on May 15th. The A team started slowly, but rolled to a 10-3 victory. Faith L. pitched a solid game. Sophie J. knocked in five RBI with a home run and double and Emma V. added another home run and threw out a runner who drifted a little too far from third base. The B team combined a slew of singles, walks, and aggressive base running to win 10-6. Abby C. threw out a runner trying to steal 2nd base.
The 8th grade softball teams split with Monticello on May 10th. The B team tried a comeback, but came up short 8-5. Abby C.and Justyss B.each had a two hit game. The A team won 15-1 with dazzling defense and optimal offense. All nine players got base hits. In her first A game, Camryn L.caught a fly ball to end the top of the first inning and capped the bottom half with an RBI single. Faith L.and Sophie J.each had two hits and Emma V.went 3 for 3 at the plate.
The 8th grade softball teams split with Big Lake on May 8th. The A team won a pitchers' duel. Faith L.pitched a great game and hit a home run, driving in two of the runs in a 3-1 win. The B team lost 12-5.

The 8th grade softball teams had their first home games on May 1st against Princeton. The A team won 17-1. Highlights included a home run by Megan S., a triple by Sophie J., and a well pitched game by Sophie. The B team won 10-0. Their highlights included solid pitching by Claire H. and a double by Abby C.
The 8th grade softball teams traveled to Becker on April 30th for a pair of victories. The A Team was in a close, pitchers' duel for four innings. Not only did Faith L.pitch a complete game shutout, but she started the scoring in the fifth inning with a monster home run to the fence in left field. Mia S.and Megan S.followed that with doubles. Jamie L.finished the scoring for a 4-0 win.The B team won 9-5 with aggressive base running by all and good pitching by Claire H.
The 8th grade softball teams both beat Isanti on April 26th with aggressive base running and strong defense.. The B Team won 14-3 behind solid pitching by Hannah H.. Autumn G. hit two singles. Cate K. and Camryn L. added singles as well. The A Team won 15-4. Sophie J. pitched a great game. Everyone on the team scored at least once. Megan S. hit a double and added a delayed steal of home.

The 7th grade softball B team lost its first game of the season on May 17th. Emily O. struck out five batters and Khendal J. hit a homerun to put the first run in the books. Buffalo fought back hard and caught us layin’ in the dandelions scoring five runs in the last inning to win the game 5-4. Aggressive base running allowed the Knights to steal a few runs in the A game. Emily M. ended the inning with a home run. Lindsey E. hit a solid double in the second inning driving in a run. The girls played hard and won 12-1. The end-of-the-season party will be during practice on Monday, don’t forget your $3.
The 7th grade softball shut down Monticello on May 15th winning both games! The A team won 3-0. Emily O. made her starting pitching debut and did great. Emma B. stole home for the first run of the game after she had been walked. Lindsey E. hit a triple. Erin H., Jordyn P. and Anika R. all hit singles. The B team won 9-0. Khendal J. was the starting pitcher and struck out three out of eight batters she faced. Ella V. also had a strike out as the closer. Ella was also one of the two players hitting a homerun. Gabby T. hit the other homerun, and also hit a double in the inning prior as a warm up. Lexi H. and Marlee W. both hit two singles, helping score runs for the Knights. The B team is still undefeated!
On May 8th, Jordan C. started the A game off with a double again followed up by a home run by Kendal J. Anika R. hit a double followed by Jadyn P. with a triple. Erin H. had hit a homerun for the second night in a row. Lindsey E. caught two girls trying to steal second and threw them out with the help of Kendal J. The A team won 9-0. The B team also won by a score of 12-7. Gabby T. hit a triple scoring the first two runs of the game. Kendal J. hit a grand slam in the second inning and Ella V.hit a couple singles. Emily L. played a very solid short stop. Great job ladies.
On May 7th, the 7th grade softball teams took on Buffalo at home. The A team won 14-3. Jordyn C. started the game with a double. Jayden P. then hit a triple driving in the first run of the game. Erin H. hit a home run to end the first inning. Emma B. started the second inning with a double. With these stellar hits and aggressive base running, the Knights played a great game. The B team tied 5-5. Anika R., Jordan C. and Emily M. stayed to help out and hit singles. Olivia K. was back from being sick and brought her mad catching skills.
STMA 7th grade softball won two games against Cambridge on May 3rd. The B team won 12-0. Ella V. got the first hit of the game with a single. In the second inning Jordan C. hit a single and Emily O. hit a double scoring two runs. The A team won a tight game! The first inning was quick with no runs scored. Emily Olin walked and Ella Van Orden singled to score the first run for STMA. Cambridge, however, came back with two runs. In the top of the third Kendal J. hit a homerun! Annika R. followed that up with a double and Jadyn P. with a single. Ultimately the girls were able to pull ahead and win 3-2.
On May 1st STMA took on Princeton at home. The A team won 7-0. Kendal J. hit a triple and Emma B. hit a double. The B team also won, keeping their winning streak alive with a score of 15-0. Alyssa S. and Marlee W. both hit solid singles to keep the runners moving. Emma B. had a delayed steal home to keep Princeton on their toes. And Erin H. ended the game with a homerun. Great job ladies.
On April 30th, the 7th grade softball team played the Becker Bulldogs. The A team played first and faced a tough pitcher, ultimately losing 3-2. Jordan C., Anika R., and Ella V. were the only girls who got hits off of their pitcher. Emily M. had some great grabs on line drives towards second. The B team won last night 5-2. Gabby T. helped in a pinch catching a foul ball to end an inning. Jordan C. also had three delayed steals between the two games. Emily O., and Lexi H. had singles to help put some runs in the book. Great job ladies.
7th grade softball had a great start to their season on April 26th. The B team won 15-1. Emily O. had nine strike outs making it tough for the Blue Jackets to get on base. Lexi H. helped move runners around the bases with her single. The A team won 15-0 with a huge hit from Khendal J. who hit a grand slam. Another big hit in the game was Ella V. who hit a double. Anika R. pitched all three innings with seven strikeouts. Great job ladies!

STMA MS West competed against Princeton on May 21st in their last meet of the season. Shooting a 39 for the Knights was Gavin R., shooting a 40 was Reece B., and shooting a 42 was Owen B. The Knights had a very good golf season. Once the weather cooperated the Knights played some solid golf.
The STMA golf teams from East completed their final golf meet of the season with a triangular meet with Princeton and Big Lake on May 17th. Medalist for the girls’ meet was Lila L. who posted a 38. This was Lila’s fourth medalist honor this season. The boys’ defeated Princeton by a score of 150-180 with Eli P. shooting a 36, including a nice birdie putt, Adam D. posted a 37, Tyler J. a 38, and the trio of Charlie B., Wes K., and Ryan O. all posting nice rounds of 39. On the girls’ side, the Knights defeated the Tigers by a score of 159-188. In addition to Lila’s great round, Gabby E. shot a 39, while Erin V. was right behind with a 42 and Libby L. rounded out the scoring with a 50.
The STMA Middle School East golf teams took part in a dual competition with Monticello on Monday, May 7th at Vintage Golf Course, home course of both teams. The weather at 4:00 was a balmy 85 degrees, perfect for shooting low scores. The Knights defeated the Magic on the boys’ side by a score of 150 to 167. Medalist for the tournament was Charlie B. with an impressive round of 35, followed by Jack W. with a 37, and Ryan O., Carson R. and Eli D. all posting a 39 respectively. The girls’ team also was victorious this day with a nice score of 180 compared to the Magic who posted a 198. Medalist for the girls was Lila L. who shot an 8 over par score of 37. Other top scores were Avery F. with a 44, Hannah S. 49, and Emma A. with a 50 with a nice birdie on hole number 9 in front of the clubhouse gallery.
STMA West golfers competed against Cambridge-Isanti on May 3rd. The Knights golfed very well overall. The scores that stuck for the boys were Jack C. with a 31, Ethan C. with a 35, and Jake B. with a 36. On the girls’ side four players shot a 45. They were Jocelyn K., Avery L., Ellie H., and Drew B.
The STMA golf teams played a dual meet with Big Lake on May 1st on an almost perfect day weather-wise. The STMA boys were able to finish off a pretty good Big Lake team by a score of 156-169. Leading scorer for the Knights was Adam D. with a pretty impressive 36, followed by nice scores of 39, 40, 41 and 41 by Wes K., Jack W., Carson R., and Brooks O. Lila L. had a bunch of pars to lead all girl scorers with a 39. Avery F. wasn’t too far behind with a nice round of 53, while Libby L. and Hannah S. each posted a 56.
On a very windy day the Knights from West played pretty good golf on April 30th. On the boys side Ethan C. shot an outstanding score of 35. Gavin G. shot a 41 and Alex N. shot a 42. On the girls side Ellie H. shot a 49 and Gabby V. shot a 53.
After finally getting a break from mother nature, the boys and girls golf teams took part in a dual meet at Pebble Creek on April 26th. The boys’ team defeated Becker 163 to 214 with Jack W. and Michael B. both scoring a 40, Cowin U. a 41, and Jake B. a 42. In the girls’ division, the STMA team defeated the Becker team by a score of 253 to 301. Leading scorers for the girls were Lila L. with a 56, Olivia B. a 64, Emma A. a 66, and Avery L. 67.
