October 9th was a great night for the girls’ tennis team. The Knights faced off against Cambridge-Isanti and went away with team victories. Great individual performances from Ashlynn B., Ellie B., Abby C., Cadence F., Reagan G., Ellie H., Payton L., Sydney R., Abby J., Olivia R., Emily A., Kyra P., and Kendall P. Great work Knights.

2017 Girls Swim and Dive
The girls’ swim and dive team repeated as Mississippi 8 Conferences champions on October 16th in Cambridge. Julie R. was 2nd in the 100 IM and 2nd in the 50 butterfly, Emma H. was 7th in the 100 freestyle, Ava Y. was 6th in the 100 freestyle and 6th in the 100 backstroke, Avery H. was 5th in the 200 freestyle and 7th in the 100 backstroke, , Emma C. was 4th in the 300 freestyle and 4th in the 100 breaststroke, Ella C. was 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 6th in the 50 butterfly, Jorie E. was 8th in the 50 free, Ava M. was 8th in the 200 freestyle, Maddie V. was 7th in the 100 IM and 3rd in the 100 breaststroke, Ella G. was 5th in the 100 IM and 5th in the 300 freestyle, Emily B. was 5th in the 50 butterfly and 4th in the 100 IM, Malaina S. was 8th in the 300 free style and 7th in the 50 butterfly, Breanna D. was 3rd in the 300 freestyle, Carlie P. was 6th in the 300 freestyle, Becca K. was 2nd in diving, Conference champions were Liv P. who won the 50 free, Carlie P. who won the 50 butterfly, Breanna D. who won the 100 backstroke, and Molly R. who won both the 100 IM and the 100 freestyle. Isabella M., Avery H., Marlee W., Emma H., Allie L., Ella C., Ava Y., Maria W., Hannah T., Emma C., Molly R., Julia R., Olivia B., Ella G., Maddie V., Emily B., Sydney N., Isabella H., Jorie E., Erin H., Alexis D., Carlie P., Malaina S., Aria B.-F., Ella H., and Breanna D. all cut their times. It was a great season for the girls’ swim and dive team.
What a great job the girls swim and dive team did in their meet against on October 9th. The girls were able to swim some events that they hadn't swam before, yet we were able to still get first in all but two events. In one of those events, the 100 breaststroke, Maria W. and Hannah T. got 2nd and 3rd and both posted their best times. Best times were also achieved by Ava M. in the 100 IM, Malalaina S. and Erin H. in the 50 fly, JayLynn R. and Aria B. in the 100 backstroke, Sydney N. in the 100 breaststroke, Avery H. and Bella M. in the 100 free, Emma C. and Carlie P. in the 300 free. The Knights won all of the relays. Emily B. swam the 50 fly for the first time and finished first. Liv P. finished first in the 300 free. 1st and 2nd places in 100 IM were won by Molly R. and Julia R. This was the first time this season that each had swam that event. Once again, Becca K. was first in diving.
The girls swim and dive team continue to swim well and win big! Several girls dropped time on October 2nd at our tri meet with Monticello and Foley including Breanna D. in the 200 free, Carlie P. in 100IM and 50 butterfly, Malaina S. 100 IM, Liv P. 50 free, Aria B-F. in the 50 butterfly, Ella H. in the 100 breaststroke, Emma H.l in the 100 IM, Julia S. in 50 the free, Allie L. 100 free, Ella C. in 300 free. Rebecca K. won the diving. It's fun to watch how well they swim!
The girls swim team won their meet with Buffalo on September 25th by a convincing margin. The girls are swimming stronger every week. Several girls cut time in their events last night. Cutting time in the 100 IM were Breanna D. and Malainia S.. Cutting time in the 50 free were Liv P., Molly R., and Nora A. Cutting time in the 300 free was Ella G , Jorie E. cut her time in the 50 fly. Sydney N. and Julia R. cut their time in the 100 breast stroke. Our divers are doing a great job as Rebecca K., Eva G., Olivia D., and Myra F. all placed. Cutting time in the 100 IM and 50 fly were Carlie P.. Cutting time in the 100 free were Hannah T., Allie L. and Ava Y. Cutting in 100 back was Avery H.
The girls swim and dive team swam really well on September 18th and beat Cambridge/Isanti winning every event except one. The girls swim strokes are looking good with very few mistakes. Aria B-F. beat all of her times from last year last night. Several new swimmers had great swims including JayLynn R., Liv P., Carlie P., Sydney N. and Jenna E. Becca K. did a great job diving. Allie L. had her best 100 free time, Emma H., Ava Y. and Kate R. had great individual swims. Our 8th graders stepped up with great swims too- Emma C., Breanna D., Maddie V. and Malaina S. all had good nights.
What a great first meet for the girls swim team on September 11th at the Mississippi 8 relay meet in Big Lake. Many girls were doing events they hadn't done before. The 8th graders stepped up and helped the new swimmers understand how middle school meets work and cheered for each other. We have a great team and we swam well! Coach Jones is excited to see the great times we will see this season.

2017 East 8th Grade Football

The 8th grade football teams wrapped up their season on October 17th with victories over Buffalo. The A Team won 14-0. The defense really got the job done by shutting down a normally high powered offense. Ethan Y., Kiers B., and Xavier P. all recovered fumbles in the game. Jake S.and Kiers B. scored the touchdowns and Drew E. tacked on a 2 point conversion. The offensive line again paved the way for a strong running game. Avery B.and Alex M. connected on a 50 yard pass reception and through it all, Aidan L. provided encouraging words to keep the team motivated. The B team won 22-0. The Knights chewed up the entire first quarter on offense and finished it with a short TD run. Ben K. and Gavin S. hooked up on a pretty 70 yard scoring pass on the last play of the first half to make the score 14-0. MSE completed their scoring with a Caleb B. QB sneak in the second half. It was a great season for the B team Knights with all the players showing steady improvement and a fine record of 6-1. Coaches Anfenson and Mueller would like to wish the teams good luck as they continue on in school and sports at STMA.
The 8th grade B football team defeated Monticello 28-8 on October 12th. Monti brought back the opening kickoff for a score. The Knights were in control after that, scoring 28 unanswered points. Many players made contributions in this game. A fun highlight in this game was Riley N.rumbling in for two 2 point conversion runs. Jack D.and Will S.each carried the ball for first time all season. Sam F.made some nice yards with some determined running. It was a team effort with many boys making contributions in the win. The A team lost a tough one 46-22. The offensive line, including Aidan L., Levi H., Evan F., Ethan Y., Xavier P., Sawyer F., and Alex M.paved the way for the running game resulting in touchdowns by Drew E., Jake S., and Brooks O.
The 8th grade A football team lost 8-6 to Big Lake on October 10th. Jake S.scored the touchdown and recovered a fumble forced by Alex M.. Carter H.recovered another fumble giving the team one last chance to win.The 8th grade B football team beat Big Lake 20 -16. Caden N.connected with Ben K.for a 85 yard scoring pass with just 1:30 left to play. Caleb B.excelled on both offense and defense. He threw a scoring pass to Asa T.from 50 yards out and had a huge interception on defense to secure the Knights win. Jack D., Will S., and Neal K.played solid games on both sides of the ball. The Knights record moved to 4-1.
The 8th grade B football team lost a close ball game to Becker 16-14 on October 5th. Becker scored late and converted a two pointer to win the game. The Knights put together a 97 yard drive taking up most of the second half to grab the lead. Sam E. was key on the drive with many hard fought running yards. Tye K. and Carte B. cleared the way with strong blocking. Gavin S. made a nice catch to keep the drive alive. The defense made many nice plays during the ball game. Sam F. came up with a nice interception that stopped a Becker drive. The 8th grade A team lost to Becker on Thursday, but there were a some bright spots. Brooks O. and Kiers B. each had several key tackles and both carried the ball for good yardage. Hayden F. had an interception in the end zone.
The 8B football team defeated Princeton 24-0 on September 28th. The Knights started out sluggish start, but had an excellent second half. Numerous players contributed solid performances in this game. The Knights opened the scoring with Caleb N. hooking up with Tye K. for long scoring pass. The second half saw Sam E. score on a determined long scoring run. Caleb B. scored the final TD on a fine qb keep around the right end. Caleb also designed the successful trick play the Knights used to score the two point conversion. On that play Ben K. found Jacob M. wide open in the back of end zone. Luke W. highlighted the shutout with two quarterback sacks in the second half. The 8th grade A football team beat Princeton with a come from behind, 18-14 victory Thursday. Drew E. scored on 80 yard and 8 yard touchdown runs. Levi H. recovered a fumble. Alex M.and Carter H. had key tackles for loss. The last drive was a real team effort, moving 60 yards in 3three minutes, including a 30 yard reception by Alex M.and capped by a 4 yard touchdown pass from Avery B. to Bo B. with four seconds left. Carson R. sealed the victory with an interception.
The 8B football team put together a nice victory with a solid effort against West on September 19th. Ben L. got things going with a long TD run early in the ball game. Caden N. hooked up on a long pass to Ben K. that set MSE up for a short TD run. Sam E. had a pick 6 in the second half. Sam F. contributed a nice TD run. Jack D. played well at the center position. Alec M. and Will S. were tough in the trenches. The team showed improvement on both sides of the ball and look forward to getting better with more practice time. The A team lost a tough game.
The 8th grade football B team beat Cambridge 26-16 on September 14th. Caden N. accounted for all four TD’s. He threw for two scores and ran for two others. The guys played strong second half defense and took control of the game late. Carter B. played a solid game on the line along with Riley N. Tye K. and Gavin S. hauled in the scoring passes for the Knights. The 8th grade football A team beat Cambridge 14-12. The offensive line led the way as eight different runners ran the ball. Jake S. and Avery B. each scored touchdowns and Drew E. got the extra points that made the difference. Evan F. intercepted a pass in the closing seconds at the 5 yard line preventing Cambridge from scoring and sealing the win.

2017 East 7th Grade Football

The last night of East 7th grade football did not go as planned as the BLUE B team lost 16-0 to Buffalo on October 17th. The team could not get much going on offense as turnovers proved costly. The few bright spots we had were Evan O. with a long run. William T. had a couple tough runs for first downs. Charlie W. had the play of the day on defense by taking the football right out of a Buffalo player’s hands. The team worked hard every day and improved on their football skills as the season went on.
In their last game of the season, the East Gold B team went out on top, by taking down cross-town rivals West 18-8 on October 16th. The kids came out flying by making multiple stops on defense. East was able to score twice in the second quarter to gain control of the game. The first score came on a long Colin M. pass completion to Mason V. Jarrett F. found Grayson F.for another passing touchdown as time expired in the first half. East came out a little flat in the 3rd quarter by giving up a safety and a West TD. However, they picked it back up in the 4th by making multiple tackles for losses, highlighted by Nick L. and Hugo P. sacks. Mason V. put the icing on the cake late in the 4th quarter by taking a QB keeper in for a touchdown. Over the course of the season the team made strides each and every day to become better football players. They never gave up on themselves when the going got tough and stayed humble when they were having success.
The 7th grade Blue B football team ran into a tough Becker squad on October 5th and lost. Andrew F. had The Knights’ lone touchdown on a perfectly executed counter. Owen H. also had two big gains, one via a kick return and the other on a run.
The 7th grade Gold B football team lost to Buffalo on October 4th 24-8. The Knights started off strong by using up the whole first quarter and capping it off with a Daniel P. touchdown run. Later in the game, Mason W. had a nice gain on WR reverse. Tanner B. played very well on both sides of the ball, highlighted with a couple tackles for loss.
The 7th grade Gold B football team lost 12-0 to Princeton on September 28th. Roman R. had a good defensive game with several tackles. Michael J. had a fumble recovery. Daniel P. and Mason M. led the rushing attack.
On September 26th, the blue B team won 14-6 against Monticello. The defense played a really good game with a lot of tackles for loss. Andy N. made a great catch while falling down for a TD from Ashtyn G.. Tyler J.moved from his original line spot to running back for a play and took off for a long TD run. He also recovered a fumble. Andrew F. converted a 2 pt conversion run. Evan O. had a good day running the ball on QB keepers. The 7th grade A football team beat Monticello 14-0. Jaxon C. had a 60 yard punt return to get the scoring started. Rainer M. had a touchdown run also. Nathan D., Luke V. and Vincent C. controlled the line on both sides of the ball the entire game.
On September 25th, the 7th grade Blue B football team lost to West 6-0. Andy N. had an interception. Owen H. had a long run.
The 7th grade B football team lost 16-8 to West on September 19th. Ashtyn G. had a long TD run and Tyler J. had a nice onside kick.
The 7th grade B Gold team lost 18-6 to Cambridge on September 14th. Hugo P. got a sack, Charles B. had a long punt return, highlighted by a BIG Nick L. block. Mason M. scored on a 20 yard run. The 7th grade A football team lost to Cambridge 14 – 0. The Knights were able to move the ball effectively all night, but small mistakes stopped many drives. Rainer M. Jaxon C. and Karson R. led the Knights running the football highlighted by Karson’s 32 yard run, dragging Cambridge players with him for a majority of that run.

2017 Boys Soccer
The boys’ soccer A team ended their season with a 3-1 win over Buffalo on October 16th. Kazmer B. scored the first goal. Weston P. scored on a beautiful penalty kick. Andrew B. scored his first goal of the season. The West and Catholic School B team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. Jake K. birdied the ball into the back corner for one of the goals. Donovan R. scored on a beautiful goal on a crossover assist by Nathan S. Sam D. scored as well. The East B team won their game 3-1 at Buffalo.
The boys’ soccer A team had a phenomenal game on September 28th against North Branch winning 5-1. Scoring goals for the Knights were Riley R., Dylan A., Connor P., Andrew B., Matt A., and Ryan I. The East B team continues to improve, becoming stronger as a team. The B team tied North Branch 1-1 with a goal from Mason W.
The boys’ soccer A team defeated. Francis on September 26th 2-1. Goals were scored by Andrew B.and Robby M. The West B team continues to work together and are playing very well together as a team. They played against a tough team, but proved they would not be a team to mess with. They tied St. Francis 4-4. The boys’ soccer A team had another great game against Waconia on September 25th. They came out with a 5-3 win with goals from Riley R., Weston P., and Evan A. The East B team put forth a great effort as well and is continuing to play better and better as a team.
The boys’ soccer team was phenomenal on September 21st against Princeton! The A team had some great competition but stayed tough and won 2-0. Goals were scored by Nathan S. and Riley R. The West B team had some great teamwork tonight and came out victorious with a 5-3 win over Princeton. Goals were scored by Bryon E.N., Sam D., and Bjorn W., and two goals from Jake K. Great job boys!
The boys’ soccer team defeated Chisago Lakes on September 19th.
The West boys’ soccer team defeated Cambridge-Isanti 3-2 on September 18th. Sam D. scored two goals and Jake K. scored one. The boys did a great job working tougher as a team, and played smart and aggressive in the second half.

The girls' "B" soccer team ended the season undefeated after their win against North Branch on October 16th. All of the girls played well, especially Emma T. who faced several tough shots and walked away with a shutout! Josie V. got the first goal and Emma W. (assisted by Lukanu B.) scored the last goal of the 2 to 0 win. Everyone played well and supported one another! It was a great game to watch.
The girls' soccer teams walked away with two wins against STMA West on October 12th. The B team started off the night with great defense and phenomenal goal tending by Emma T.. Paige K.got the one goal for the evening. Everyone worked hard and it was a great match to watch. The A team won 2 to 0 with Janelle S. getting the first goal (assisted by Emma D.) and Emma D. scoring the second goal. Ashlyn H. recorded the shutout and played incredibly well. All of the girls on both A and B have done well and have worked hard to stay undefeated throughout the entire season.

The B team played great and walked away with a 3 to 0 win! Paige K.scored all three goals for the game, and was assisted by Emma W. Emma T. and Ellsie Fr. each got a shutout while splitting time in the net. All of the girls worked hard!

The B team walked away with a 4 to 1 win, with Libby L. scoring two goals, Paige K. and Ava S. scoring one goal apiece. Both teams worked hard and made it through the cold weather!

The B team won 5 to 0 with Emma W. leading the offense with two goals and Grace Z., Libby L., and Josie V. with one goal apiece. The Knights also had many assists in the game. Grace Z, had two assists Ellsie F,, and Maia G, each had one assist for a goal.. Emma Tiedeken recorded another shutout! The A team won 8 to 2, playing incredibly well! Emma D, led the offense with four goals and one assist, following her was Olivia P, with two goals, Maddie I. with one goal and one assist, Chloe F. with one goal and two assists, and single assists going to Izzy M., Janelle S., and Hannah K. All of the girls on both teams played great! They have worked hard being great teammates and players, and Coach Laird is very proud of their efforts

The offense for the A team was led by Emma D.who had two goals and one assist, with Hannah K. and Ava L. each having one goal. Assists came from Brooke B., Maria Rydberg, and Olivia P. Ashlyn H. got another shutout and did well the entire game! The B team also won 4 to 0 with Emily M., Emma W., Libby L., and Lydia P. all scoring! Paige K., Emma W., and Lydia P. each had an assist for three of the goals! Emma T. earned another shutout as well! All of the girls on both A and B have improved so much and are clearly doing well working together as a team!"

Josie V. led the offense with three goals and Grace Z. got the fourth and final goal of the game, making the score 4 to 0. All of the ladies played well and have improved so much this season! A team also had a great game, winning 6 to 1. Olivia P. had three goals during the game with Maddie I., Hannah K., and Chloe D. all having one goal apiece. The girls worked hard against an equally physically team and continued to support one another. Our defense played well, not allowing too many shots on net. Congratulations to both teams
Congratulations to the girls’ soccer A team for their win against North Branch on September 26th 4 to 0. It was a very well played game and the girls have improved incredibly! Brooke B. led the offense for the day with two goals while Eleanor T.W, and Emma D. each having one goal in the game. There were also some great assists to these four goals, including two from Olivia P. and one from Maria R. Goal tender, Ashlyn H. and (part-time goalie) Olivia P.had less than five shots the entire game, due to incredible defense in the back! Each player was flexible and willing to try new positions throughout the game and continuously supported and cheered for one another! Great job ladies! "

The first goal was scored by Brooke B. who was assisted by Emma D. and the second goal scored by Olivia P. Goalie Ashlyn H. recorded another shut out! All together our defense played great! The B team continued the success by winning 5 to 1. Libby L. led the offense with two goals, followed by Ani R., Ellsie F., and Lukana B. who each scored a goal each! Anna H. and Gracie C. also assisted on two goals! Each player worked hard and has continued to improve both as individuals and as a team!"
Congratulations to both the A and B girls’ soccer teams on some very hard-fought games on September 21st against St. Francis. The A team worked incredibly hard to come back and win 2 to 1. Coach Laird is very proud of these girls and their ability to work as a team and lift each other up, even when the game isn’t going their way. The tying goal of the game was scored by Eleanor T-W. from assists by Olivia P. and Emma D. The tie-breaker was scored by Janelle S. who did an incredible job of following up a rebound from the opposing goalie. The B team players had many opportunities, but unfortunately could not get one past the opposing goalie. While the score was tied 0-0, all of the girls worked incredibly hard and had possession of the ball for over half of the game. From offense to defense, each player pushed to work their hardest and played well!"

Our defense played tough and handled the physical players well! Ashlyn H., again, was a great leader in the net and unfortunately faced two tough penalty kicks. The B team won 4 to 0 with Paige K., Ani R., Emma W., and Taylor J. scoring for the Knights! Our mid-field and defensive players worked hard throughout the game and really improved in their passing and communication with each other.
Congratulations to the A and B Girls Soccer Teams on their wins against Chisago Lakes, on September 18th. The A team won 11 to 0 with Olivia P,, Josie V., Eleanor T-W, Brooke B. and Emma D.leading the offense!! Through amazing teamwork, there were many players who had assists, including Chloe D.and Ava L. who had assisted on multiple goals. The B team worked just as hard to get a winning score of 4 to 1. Paige K. led the offense with two goals and Emma W.and Ani R.each scored to help lift the Knights to victory! Congratulations to both teams for a great first game and for being so supportive of one another!

The 8th grade girls B volleyball team had a great night on October 12th and defeated North Branch 3-0. Great defense and an aggressive offense was the key. Alexis M. had some great attacks at the net. Morgan P. played great defense and Hilary B. was again a star at serving. The A team faced a very good North Branch team and came up short going 1-2. Serving led the way with great net play by Allie C.. Tali C. served very well, but in the end, North Branch was too much for the lady Knights.
The 8th Grade volleyball team hosted Monticello October 10th and came out victorious. The B team played well and had great serving winning 5 of 6. The A team played a tense match but proved to be too much for the Magic taking all six matches. Strong serving and great defense again was the key to the victory.
The 8th grade girls’ volleyball team traveled to Big Lake and stung the Hornets on October 5th. The B team started off the night with big wins led by great serving by Izzy C. and Hilary B.. Morgan P. put the sting on the Hornets by having 4 kills in the 3 matches. Strong defense and an aggressive offense proved to be too much for the Hornets. The A team started off losing a close match 26-24, but came back strong winning the next 2 matches 25-14, 25-17. Great serving and defense were the keys to the win. Great net play by Allie C., Ella S., and Kaelee L. set up by great passing from Brenna H. and Tali C. took the sting out of the Hornets for the victory. Awesome job girls.
The 8th grade A volleyball team was defeated on October 3rd by West 4-2. Strong serving and defense by Allie C. and Olivia L. were not enough to beat West. The B Volleyball team won 5 of 6 matches last night against West. Strong serving and great defense was the key to beating West. Strong serving by Hillary G. and Izzy C. led the way.
The 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Buffalo on October 2nd and came out victorious. The B team lost the first match but came back strong to win the next five. Hilary B. had great passing to help the team to victory. Strong serving by Paige G., Morgan P., and Izzy C.proved to be too much for Buffalo. The A team also got off to a slow start but came back strong winning 5 of the 6 matches. Great defense by all contributed to the victories. Strong serving by Aryn M., Ella S., Brenna H.and Ellie S. proved to be too much for Buffalo. Nice job girls.
The 8th grade volleyball team hosted North Branch on September 26th. The A team met a tough offense with great serving that proved too much for the lady Knights. Great defense and good volleys were not enough to beat the Vikings. The Knights had good net play from Allie C. and Ellie S. and good defense by Tali C. The B team took it to the Vikings with great serving and great defense. Good hustle plays by Hilary B. and Lynzie M. helped the lady Knights past the Vikings. Nice job girls.
The 8th grade volleyball team traveled to St. Francis on September 21st and split. The B team played a very good St. Francis team and came up short in the end. Hillary G. played very well all around. Serena W. had a great night serving. The A team played exceptional and beat St. Francis in all four matches. Great serving proved to be too much for the Saints. Ella S. led the way with serving followed by great defense by Tali C.. Olivia L. played well at the net also. Great job girls.
The 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Monticello on September 19th and swept the Magic. The A team was won with serving. Brenna H., Aryn M., and Elli S. led the way in serving. Great defense and offense proved too much for the Magic. The 8th grade B team was led by Morgan P.’s serving. Izzy C. played well at the net and Alexis M. played great defense. Congratulations girls on a great victory.
The 8th grade volleyball teams stung the Big Lake Hornets on September 18th winning all six matches. Great serving along with good offensive play helped the Lady Knights defeat the hornets. Hilary B., Claire H., and Serena W.n showed lots of improvement since the beginning of the season. Elli S. and Kaelee L. showed great leadership on the court. Nice job girls.
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Volleyball Teams on their wins September 12th against Buffalo. The B team won all six matches against Buffalo with great front row defense by Lynzie M. Aryn M. had powerful serves and back row attack. Paige G. was consistent with serving. Way to go B team. The A team lost its first match, then regrouped and came out strong with a victory in the next five matches. Good all-around play by all the girls with running a new system. Tali C. was very consistent serving with lots of ace serves. Great defense by Ella S. led to many scoring opportunities. Allie C. had some good plays at the net. Congratulations girls on and opening day victory.

Girls' Cross Country Team
The Cross Country team finished its season on October 17th at the Mississippi 8 conference meet in Monticello. The boys ran their best race of the season and finished 4th in a tight scoring battle. Kyle R. turned in his best race of the year finishing 5th overall to lead the Knights. The team showed great depth as Dalton C. (9th) Gavin R. (18th), Adam H. (20th), John H. (28th) and Gavin G. (30th) all won individual ribbons. The Girls team finished a close second. Becca I. got 2nd place overall in leading the team. Emelia W. (12th), Addie O. (13th), Natalie Z. (16th), Emma V. (17th), Grace B. (19th) and Jamie L. (29th) all earned individual ribbons for the Knights. Coach Cleveland and Coach Hertwig would like to congratulate and thank the athletes for their positive attitude and work ethic this season. We put in more miles than we ever have during the season and it paid off in the end.
The cross country teams ran at Princeton on October 10th. The girls team came home with their first team win of the year. The girls ran very well and got a low team score of 22. Becca I. and Addie O. led the way with a 1-2 finish. Also scoring and earning medals for the girls were, Emelia W., Jamie L., Emma V. and Natalie Z. Having their best team finish ever were Grace B., Ella S. and Cailey A. The boys team finished 4th. They were led by Dalton C’s 8th place finish. Kyle R., Adam H., Gavin R., Bobby C., and Eli P. all scored for the Knights.
The Cross Country team ran at the Rec Center on October 3rd and had a great performance. The girls team finished in 2nd place and the boys team finished in 3rd. Becca I. once again led the girls team by winning the individual championship. Addie O. finished in 3rd place. Rounding out the top finishers for the Knights were Emma V. (11th), Jamie L. (13th), Natalie Z. (14th), Grace B. (15th) and Emilia W. (16th). The girls earned 17 of the 35 ribbons that were awarded in the meet. The boys were led by Dalton C.’s 8th place finish. Kyle R. (9th), Adam H. (17th), Gavin R. (19th), John H. (26th) and Caleb R. (27th) were other top finishers for the boys.
After a week and a half of tough workouts, the Cross Country teams got to compete at the Buffalo Invitational on September 28th. The girls team finished in second place and were led by overall individual champion Becca I. Addie O. wasn’t far behind finishing in 6th place. Other top finishers for the Knights were, Emma V. 16th, Jamie L. 20th, Elise S. 21st and Natalie Z. 22nd. The boys team finished in 3rd place thanks to a tie-breaking finishes by Ryan E. and Gavin G. Ryan and Gavin finished ahead of a runner from Monticello and that was the tie-breaker. Dalton C. led the team with a fantastic 6th place finish. Kyle R., finished 13th, Adam H. 16th, Bobby C.23rd, and Gavin R. 24th rounded out the top 5 STMA finishers.
On September 19th, the STMA Cross Country team ran an intraquad meet. In the boys’ race, the White team came in first with 66 pts. Members of the winning team were Bobby C., Gavin G., Hayden H., Hunter P., and Nathan E. Coming in second place was the Black team . Dalton C. was the individual champion, followed by Adam H. and Kyle R. The winning team in the girls’ race was the Black team. Members of that team were Emelia W, Emma V., Ella S., Tam L., Lily B., Jade G. and Mia M. Second place went to the Orange team. Becca I. was the individual champion, followed by Addie O. and Emelia W.
Congratulations to the Cross Country teams on their first meet of the year on September 9th. The boys took home 5th place out of 11 teams. Dalton C. led the way with an 8th place finish. Kyle R. finished 21st, Adam H. (31st), Caleb R. (33rd) Bobby C. (35th) and Gavin R. (36th), were the other top finishers. The girls team got 4th place. Becca I. ran a great race and finished in 2nd place out of 100 runners. Addie O. also ran well coming in 10th. Rounding out the top 6 were, Emma V. (26th), Emelia W. (28th), Leah T. (37th) and Jamie L. (38th)
